Hi I am thinking of moving to Orlando next summer from Miami, I am an LPN and bring home about 6k per month and will soon be finished with RN school, I wanted to know if the Orlando area pays around or the same amount (kinda used to my income you know) I will look into the sub of Avalon Park, my daughter has a cousin that lives there and they think it's great, I'm looking for a community that has a diverse ethnic group, low crime, and decent schools, I myself am african american, and have Bi racial girls that speak both english and spanish. thanks

I think Miami pays more then Orlando maybe someone can chime in?
Avalon is a nice neighborhood just be aware that there is an ugly power plant right there and you can see the smoke stacks, it`s quite an eyesore for such a nice area. |

I don't know about the healtcare industry, but I took about a 27% pay cut when I moved to the Orlando area from NJ.

You won't make that kind of money in Orlando as an LPN unless you're doing home health care or making house calls for a nursing home or something like that. I spoke to a coworker and she was saying to get to the RN level and you will make lots more money. You might have to suffer a bit if you move here w/o getting to the RN level.

ORMC pays RN's Between about $25/hr for FT (PTO is 7.1 hrs per pay period which is every 2 weeks and you are eligibe to buy healthcare coverage)
Pool pay is $29./hr (No benifits or PTO). and Flex pool is $34/hr. Flex pool is good if you want to make your own hours . You will have to have some experience (I think its 1 year) and be able to float to whereever they need you. Interim pool is $36/hr (13 week assignment to a floor) You do get a shift differential on top of the base pay which will generate between $3 - $6/hr depending on days or nights and weekends. I don't know what LPN's make but I 'm sure its less. |
