Wasn't sure where to place, but I appreciate any info. I am planning on getting a winter home, possible in the Sebring area or Leesburg. But I am not limited to just that area. I have a beautiful summer home up North, so summer heat won't be an issue. I might prefer a mobile home, but I am not to keen on HOA fees and may prefer to own the land.
My questions are what areas would you recommend that are safe, is should I buy now or wait to see if prices drop. I am not sure how much mobile home prices should be in the mortgage crises we are in. I don't need to buy right now, but will be ready to retire in two years. I have seen some decent prices on the web but not sure I want to pay the holding costs for a home I won't use for two years. But I would like to get a fair price and not have to worry about prices falling after I buy. Thanks in advance |

You will have difficutly getting a mortgage on a mobile home in Florida simply because you will be required to have insurance on it and the insurance companies are just not insuring mobile homes anymore because they are too much of a risk with the storms Florida has. My brother in law lives in a mobile home so i know first hand the problems he has run into. Your better off buying a block home. The prices are very low right now and don't think they will go much lower. I have my home for sale right now in Inverness and in competing with the other home prices, i'm practically giving it away. By the way, i wouldn't recommend living in Leesburg. It's too run down, trashy and too much shady business goes on there. I'd choose Sebring even though i don't know anything about Sebring but Leesburg is definately not a place i would choose to live.
