Well I listened to everyon's stories and comments - they do concern me. My husband & I have eaten at the Pizza shop in Town Center and have been treaded very nicely by the Spanish people there. True, we were the only non-Spanish in the restaurant. We have also been to Publix and everyone there has been polite.
I hope we aren't making a mistake, but we did buy in Solivita. Spoke to many people there and they are not that much bothered about it. Maybe we are being foolish to move here. Only time can tell. I can't believe that any area can have any more rude people than Boynton Beach has with a spicific ethnic group (which I won't name) These people have just about taken over the population here in Boynton Beach! - I NEED TO GET OUT!

It's funny for me to read this, sitting in frigid Buffalo, NY (it was 0 yesterday - a record!), planning my move to Orlando this summer...weather in Central Florida - a disappointment!

In all seriousness, the humidity and heat can be so brutal, but ironically, the humidity is really bad here in Buffalo during the summer, so that when I have visited Orlando in August, it isn't any worse than home (just 10 degrees warmer).

Sorry, just a side note

traffic in/out of Orlando to Poinciana is horrible,

and many Solivita folks complain they're ready to give their houses away.

I'm looking at 55+ neighborhoods and while the prices are good, I've crossed Solivita off of my list.. you can't live behind the wall

Well, I'm looking forward to move to either Kissimmee, NOT POINCIANA, Saint Cloud (I really liked the Bay Lake Ranch area), or a nice area of Orlando. I guess that I won't have any problem, because I'm not Rude or Rough, I am a professional, so I won't have problem finding a job, and I speak Spanish and English.

AJ, maybe I can be your neighbor and you will LOVE me too.

Can you tell me the pros & cons of the area. Thinking of moving into the adult community called Solivita. Please help.
No dont move to kissimmee area unless you speak spanish or like crime

lots of spanish people do not speak english in kissimmee - it is almost an extension of miami in that sense with crime and no english

poinciana used to be a farming community outside the city which was very nice now it is very bad and gangs are there too - if you have kids and they go to the schools there are lots of drugs in schools and drugs on the street

traffic in the poinciana area is very bad because it is very crowded and there is no room to expand roads

certainly not a place i would wnat to raise a family - cant say i didnt tell you

oh my god. whatever you do, DO NOT move to Osceola County, you will deeply depply regret it. My family did that back in August after moving from Orange County and we've regretted it everyday since then. Osceola has twice as much crime as Orange County but at 1/5 the population. (orange has 1 million, Osceola has 200,000) Few people speak english and the ones that do are rude and pissed off. Dont get me wrong Orange County has its bad spots too but economically you're better off there. It is more expensive but Orange County has tons of job opportunities Osceola has virtually none, its just a suburb where people commute to Orlando or Walt Disney World. Some neighborhoods and towns in Orange COunty I might recommend would be Hunters Creek, (which by the way borders Kissimmee) Southchase, Williamsburg, Waterford Lakes, Apopka, Winter Park, Maitland. Downtown neighborhoods like Baldwin Park and College Pare are great too but the closer you are to Downtown the more you pay to live.
You could also give Seminole County a look too. Places such as Longwood, Casselberry, Sanford, and Lake Mary are really nice. Also Seminole County is pretty well developed so it cant get much more populated then it already is. So either Southern or Eastern Orange County, and Seminole Counties are good areas. West Orange COunty is ok, Im not sure whether I'd recommend it, its a hit and miss. But yeh either south or east orange county or seminole county is much better then osceola. if you want torture live there. sorry that was so long.
