News about Okahumpka?
Greetings and best wishes from the other Washington - Seattle area. We have friends in Okahumpka and wondering how their town was affected. Understand from the news they are not in the best of locations. Thanks!

I thought those homes looked like wood frame. I was suprised because I was under the impression that the villages were on the expensive side. Why would anybody build/buy a wood frame house in Florida?

Frankly, there are a lot of "expensive" homes in Central Florida that
are not well built.
A frame home in Florida is just plain trouble.
Termites, weather, fungi........
I would never own another frame home down here.
People buy them because they are ignorant and the contractors can
make more money building frame homes.

I have a home Northwest of Orlando .
I was up most of the night watching the storms.
Around 5 AM there were 2 systems that passed .
One passed about 5 miles South of Orlando, another about 10 miles
North of Orlando.
The only reason there was little damage is because no tornadoes from
these systems touched down . There were tornado warnings for this
area from about 4:30 AM til 5:30 AM.
Tornadoes were indicated by weather services in both systems.
They just simply did not touch ground.

Thank you. We've been very worried as we were unable contact friends by landline, cell or PocketMail. Now all the news is focusing on other stores and we haven't seen a recap about the tornadoes.
