Default Sanford-MIDWAY section-Seminole County need your opinion PLEASE

I will go to Florida at the end of February to look at a vacant lot in Sanford, MIDWAY section, with the plans to build a house in few years.

I don't know the area, I have been reading the posts in here but I haven't see anything about the MIDWAY in Sanford.

If someone knows the area, can you please give me your opinion. No need school info, by the time I build my son will be out of school. How is the traffic going to Orlando. How are jobs in Seminole County, I am a secretary, so I can work in any office. How are the houses.

I will like to have some information in case that I like the lot, so I can make my mind.

Thanks

I really really really think you will want to see this area before buying.

I don't know you so I don't know how to tell you. There are better areas nearby.

Wouldn't be my first choice, that's for sure! With the cost of building a new house as much as it is today, you'd be better served in paying more for a lot in a better location.

If you're looking at an existing home, and given that you don't care about the schools (but you will when you sell), and if the price was right, I wouldn't automatically say "HECK NO".

Thanks a lot for your opinion.

I told my husband, that even the lot size and price sounds good in Sanford, that we have to check other areas.

There is another lot in Saint Cloud that sounds good, but again I don't know the area. I will like something either in Lake, Seminole or Osceola County or a nice town in Orange County.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Midway is possibly one of the most, if not the most, economically disadvantaged area in all of Central Florida. I have known a couple people who grew up there. There are people literally living in homemade shacks around there. Make darn sure you look the area over closely before buying anything in there.

I will drive by Midway just to see but now I'm more interested in Mount Dora, Tavares or Eustis. I'm flying to Orlando at the end of this month for four days, so I want to explore different towns.

j in Florida - thanks a lot for your comments, I think Sanford is falling to the bottom of my list.

Not sure why the sugar-coating. Midway is a pretty nasty area. I don't recommend it at all. Short of bulldozing it and starting over, I don't see how the area is going to rise up and become even remotely desireable....

You other choices are much better.

Default Agrees with VAFury

I have to say that I agree with VAFURY...Midway is depressing and altho we use SR 46 as a shortcut many times...we try NOT to go thru this area after dark. The houses are up on blocks, 15 cars in the yards and has many tar paper shacks.
Don't let this discourage you from Sanford in general tho, there are many nice areas and the city is really trying to clean up the area.
