Hi.

So I've been reading the board since I am relocating to Orlando. I've lived in Cleveland, LA, San Deigo, Miami and St. Louis. Those are all high crime, but they have nice burbs; but from reading this board Orlando sounds like a 3rd world country.

I'm not talking living next to celebrites, just living in a crime free, safe, clean area. I need to be able to walk my dog at night.

I am looking for an apartment or condo rental. I don't care about ammenties like nightlife, I just need a Super Target.

My job is mobile and I will be going in between Daytona, Orlando and Space Coast. I've read a lot about Oviedo and Windermere on here; what are my other options?

Oviedo and Lake Mary would be great choices.

Winter park, winter springs, Dr Philip's area. Also some hidden gems around Thornton park, colonial town, Eola heights, Delaney park.

They are building a brand new super target in this urban shopping/ condo area right on south orange ave.

It`s not third world here but there are some areas that are not good like most anywhere else.

You may also want to consider Celebration. There is a super target 10-15 min down the road and a Publix right over the road from the community

I'm a single female and I felt very safe in Lake Mary.

I would agree with those mentioned: Lake Mary, Oviedo, Dr Phillips, Winter Park, Winter Springs, even Lake Nona.

There are several nice areas, but I would just at least for the time being avoid the nice surburban areas of Avalon and Waterford Lakes, they seem to be crime ridden and going downhill. I tend to think a lot of people that tend to complain that they live in a "nice" area and have all these problems live in these areas. I live in Conway and it is middle class to nice in areas toward Belle Isle and I don't have half the problems as my friends who live in nice areas on the east side.

People do tend to exaggerate greatly on this forum too, just keep that in mind. It is a long way from a third world country here.

I live in Brazil , a 3rd world country and crime isn't like that here. I feel completely safe here, and my city is bigger than Orlando. That's why I am kind scary about living in Orlando for 3 months.

I agree, Windermere/WG is great, and now there are some very affordable condos and townhomes in the area. Also, if you notice, most of the really negative posts about Central Florida are from the same individuals.
