Statistics don`t lie however all those cities listed have crime issues yet there are people that live there and do fine every day I wouldn`t dwell on it so much as to ruin your life just be aware and don`t venture into the bad areas especially at night and overall you will be fine.

I wouldn't dwell on it either. Crime is a big issue when looking to relocate but you can't be scared all your life.

As long as you are smart and use common sense you can make it out alive in any city.

Default nice areas/bad areas

Hey, crime is everywhere and in every "city" and there are bad areas in every city where the crime usually occurs. The problem with the Orlando area, well I should speak for Kissimmee area because that is where I live, the problem is that there are alot more bad areas than your typical city has. I am in law enforcement and can name a few areas (on one hand!!) that I would live in this county(Osceola) where I would consider safe or safer neighborhoods. I have traveled a little and have not seen such a sprawl of bad areas/neighborhoods as I have here in this area. We have people living out of motel rooms along 192 which you can add to the bad areas. This is just lovely for the poor tired tourist on their way to say, Miami, who is tired and has to pull over for the night and takes the 192 exit off the turnpike. Poor family doesn't realize that one or more of the following will occur to them during their stay: they will witness several drug deals, a domestic battery or some other battery will occur in their presense, their car will be broken into, police will bang on their door at 3 a.m. cause some guy with a warrant's last known address was their motel room, God forbid a home invasion robbery...sorry for the rambling. I just know of very limited areas that I would live in in this county. We luckily live in one and have just sold our house! Now I can get off the Orlando forums and check out some other ones as we have no idea where we will move to...just out of here!

The bottom line of all my jabbering is that there are nice areas, they are just few and far between these days. But when you drive out of your "nice area", you will have to drive through several crappy areas more than likely to arrive at your destination of choice!
