Close to a dog track (like in orlando i had the sanford-orlando kennel club ) the main reason is that one of my friends never saw live kennels races. Good choice of hotels i dont want to have to pay 300 $ a night. Safe place i usualy dont go out at night since me and my friends dont drink so we are'nt looking for bars and nightclubs. So with all that i hope someone could help me out. My friend wanted to go to myrtle beach SC but in november you can get some cool weather what you generaly dont get in florida.
That would be Longwood and Altamonte Springs. Luckily for you, Seminole Co. isn't near as bad as Orange Co., yet. The dog track is in Longwood across from Lyman HS.

Now, let me also say that the Puerto Ricans have come in and taken over many of the areas and it's like Puerto Rico has cloned itself. The language, the culture, the hoochie-mamas, the bling-bling, the loud hispanic music, the gangs, the low-riders with their loud mufflers, the arrogant attitudes, the rude vulgar talk, the unfriendliness, the trashiness, the lower property values, the poor work ethic and the CRIME....oh do I sound prejudice? Facts are facts. My area is getting more and more run down every day. The apartments are filled with parking lots of shopping carts because they don't care. The fields are laden with them too along with their unwanted trash like a tvs and a sofas, last month's garbage, etc. The billboards are written in spanish, the clerks are all speaking spanish to one another and most of the people in the store are hispanic too. They wreck the retail shelves, leave clothes in the dressing rooms, steal and break things. Yes, I worked retail.

Gee, you must be on the south side like me. I think in afew years, they will go back to calling the state La Floride or change Orlando's name to Little Puerto Rico. I don't know how many times people have come up to me and said something to me in Spanish like I'm supposed to know what they're saying. How rude!!!!!!

Folks, all crime is not reported. The statistics for "Orlando" are separated for the statistics for "Orange County". If you live in Orlando, you live basically in Orange County. Add the number of murders together and you'll get a better picture of what "Orlando" is like. Orlando is Orange County. You cannot separate the two, but they do when it comes to statistics of crime.

Pardon me, but I have had my belly full of Orlando. Mr. Dyer, keep that money going to your precious arena and arts. Who cares about the crime?
You don't! And who cares about property values? You don't!

Let's keep the wood and the tape on the windows from the hurricanes all year long. Maybe it will help deter the crime.

I couldn't agree more. I don't even like going to downtown Disney or Universal City Walk anymore because there's such a gang-presence down there and its two types of folks. I'm not racist but c'mon...you don't see anyone from Winter Park, Maitland, or Heathrow in these groups. It really is sad. I was at downtown Disney and some Puerto Rican (and I know this b/c he had the damn flag on his shirt) made a "challenge me" move and showed the handle of handgun in his shorts. Real nice. On the westside you have all the Haitians, Jamaicans, and West Indians. South is puerto ricans and mexicans. Coincidently, thats where the crime is. When was the last homicide or violent assault coming out of Winter Park or even Altamonte Springs?

The one thing that really really gets is the damn billboards in Spanish you see over around Conway/Hoffner/Lk Underhill area. I'm a blue-blood bleeding Democrat as they come, but I agree whole heartedly with the conservatives one establishing English as an official language. Orlando is becoming a hybrid of Los Angeles and Miami. I lived in L.A for a few years, which is far worse in crime as is Miami, but the similarites are fastly growing.

Local6 did a story about how OPD (God bless em) is experiencing RETALIATION from gang members in the "hot spot zones" they've been trying to curtail crime in. Isn't that nice.

Tourists on I-Drive and in Disney are gettin targeted...real f&#@kin smart. Scare off the tourists...all they do is pump millions of dollars in Central Florida and keep this area running.

I've lived here for five years now and am moving to Tampa Bay (business reasons). I would still like to return to Orlando afterwards, however...who knows what state it'll be in. The day I see low-riders, cars with "Mi Orgullo" stickers, and all that garbage in Winter Park will the day this city really becomes "Los Angelami"

Before I get accused, I have friends who are PR and black, the kind that have real, professional, jobs and live good-standing lives and they agree with on this. (Imagine that...a PR with a job) They've told me it reflects poorly on their culture as a whole. And it does, which is a shame.

...also is anyone fed up with the damn reggaton music blasting from every other car in this city, club, etc? Sirius is a wonderful thing.

With housing costs they way they are you will never see a huge influx of "undesirables" in those areas. I applaud Disney for their crackdown, however the Orlando Sentinel is trying to stir up some ***** and perpetuate the "disney is racially profiling!!!" BS. OF COURSE they are racially profiling because the absolute majority of gang activity is Hispanic and black. I made a comment that Downtown Disney is turning into Universal and I am glad Disney recognized this and started to do something about it.
Universal Citywalk has ALWAYS, since inception, been scary after hours. This isn't something that has happened in the 5 years you have lived here.
I am a bleeding heart liberal too, but I have common sense. The majority of the crime in Orlando is committed by certain groups. As long as we have the media like Orlando Sentinel trying to cause drama and people afraid to speak the truth about the one committing the crime's ethnicity, then things will never .. NEVER change.

I was glad when Disney officials started to act on a growing problem before it becomes City Walk. To be clear, I'm referring mainly to Pleasure Island and Westside as the trouble areas. And you're right...all the gang activity is primarily made of blacks and hispanics. Racial profiling...call it what you want...it's not a bad thing. I'm just saying what everyone in this city knows but is afraid to say because they'd be called a racist, WHATEVER. People have a right to feel safe when they go to PI, City Walk, or downtown. City Walk was always a little rough at night but lately it's gotten worse. Even going to the movies is a nightmare. I hope when Cameron Kuhn revamps Church Street Station that it doesn't attract an undesirable crowd...I'm sure you'll have pockets but not to the level City Walk has. The project looks amazing and with all the new building happening downtown, it would be a damn shame if it was all worthless because crime is out of control here.

I don't even read the senseless Sentinel, even though I work right across the street from it, LOL.

I was here during the days of Church Street Station and Orlando was about half the size it is now. The crime in that area was pretty bad. The employees would walk in groups, accompanied by OPD to their cars even back then. You can imagine what it will be like now. I was excited about the new movie theaters at Church and Orange (since I live at Lake Davis) but I would bet the world that within a month it will be ruined and a scary place to see movies.

I am from TN originally and it didn't hurt me a bit to disclaim when WHITE TRAILER TRASH was causing trouble or were the reasons crime was outrageous. It shouldn't be any different to point out that 99% of all the issues with gang related crime is committed by blacks and hispanics.
