Wow!!!! I have nothing against Orlando
, but what are some people thinking? They bought houses back in 2002 at 100,000 and now they want to sell it at 280,000?!?!?! I hope nobody buy this houses so they sit there and rot to the ground. How can you explain being an engineer or a doctor, and buy a house at 300,000 and then live next to some ghetto a$$ people that bought the same house at 100 k. That's how it is. I saw this house at 250 k, and when I went to see it, the people living next to it were outside smoking and drinking cheap beer, while really loud music was blasting out of their crappy car, which was parked on the grass. Is not that I'm better than them, or anything like that, but I wouldn't pay more than 105k for a house in a ghetto. I call the owners and told 'em, "How about this offer, 105k and pay my closing costs", he started laughing, and I say, "Well, I call you back in a couple of months to see if you have sell it"...The thing is a couple of weeks ago he lowered the price, 235,000, and I called him again and said, "The offer still standing"..and he did not laugh this time. I'm starting the "don't buy, rent" club in Orlando. ![]() |

Amen.... We bought in June of '03 in an okay neighborhood for $110K and the neighborhood wasn't getting any better, yet people were selling for $205K in September of '05 and I remember thinking, "Who on EARTH would pay that much to live here???".....
Well, in November of that same year we put ours up for $207K just after the peak of the market and I was quick to notice an increased amount of houses in the neighborhood going up for sale..... Got an "As Is" offer for $195K, and accepted it because we felt we needed to sell and holding out for the extra $10K would have been idiotic..... Best move we ever made as things only got more difficult..... The neighborhood was going down hill as people had been buying the homes and renting them out to some real scumbags (unlike you I do feel like I'm better than people who do auto repairs in the street in front of thier house and then throw used motor oil in the grass in thier front yard.... )... |

You were smart to get out at the peak. I told my parents to sell in late 2005 but they didnt and now houses are going back down in value. $250k for a house that used to be worth less than half that a few short years ago is insanity! Its all those speculators who drove prices to crazy levels. In Texas there didnt seem to be much speculation even though Texas is a great and desirable state so house prices are still quite reasonable. You can get a very nice house for around $150k and even $100k gets you a decent starter house.

if you do not like what you see do not buy it . i think you can not afford what you like so you go around runing the place down . if you would like to see how things have gone up in price check how much a gallon of gas was in 2001 2002 and see how much it is today . or your home insurance food at the store and see what % it has gone up then check on house prices i think you may be in for a shock . so please stop going on about house when everything has gone up

Take 2001 prices on all items you mentioned.... .... okay, now double them. Which price increase shocks you the most and which is now UNaffordable??? ..... Exactly. THAT is why people complain about home prices. |

no people complain about house prices because they like house they can not afford . thats the bottom line . why not start complaining the b m w cost to much and you have to drive a ford . in life you get what you pay for and you have no right to get anything you work for it . so do you think all house should be the same price . what is wrong with a nice house in a nice area with nice schools that have a high price and if you go out and work you can move there .as for the comment on whats unaffordable that depends on what you do if you run a fleet off trucks i would say the gas is more unaffordable than your house . so it all depends on how you look at things and stop thinkg its your right to have the house you you like for the price you like . i think it is called liveing within your means

We'll agree to disagree then. The problem isn't that people can't afford the house of thier dreams. The problem is that they can't even afford the house that satisfies minimum requirements.....

I have a chance to get a job here paying between $32k to $38k a year depending what computer job I get. Guess what. That is only enough to afford a mobile home. 25% of a $36k gross annual salary is $750 a month. No house, condo nor even rental apartment is affordable due to insane Florida house prices. You bet I wont be buying a house in FL unless prices come down big time. I wont hold my breath, if they dont drop enough I can get a nice house for $100-150k or a nice 2/2 condo for $50k in many cities in Texas. |
