Default Blue Lights

Here in the UK they're to alert the CCTV cameras that someone has run a red light. The CCTV cameras are usually embeded in the street lights in the Uk and you wouldn't notice them unless you knew what to look for. Hope Florida isn't getting too much like the UK in that respect, they're everywhere over here.

My brother works for the altamont springs police office when I asked him about this he told me it works as their eyes so they can spot people running red lights from any angle. the light wont be on if you are looking at a green light but all other lights will show blue above it and the green light from the other side will show blue but green means go blue means red which means stop ..

When I first moved back here and saw them for the first time a few months ago I got worried. I thought they were the blue lights like they have in Baltimore. Those lights in Baltimore are Police cameras in high crime areas.

Generally in Florida if no officer is present no valid citation can be written. I have had experience with receiving a ticket for a toll violation in error, and getting it dismissed simply because no officer was present. The cameras are for revenue generation, plain and simple. Hopefully the courts limit their use to when an officer is persent to witness a violation.

So if a police officer is sitting there waiting for red light runners they can see them coming and going essentially.

This is correct. The lights are so police can easily spot red light runners. Cameras can be seen mounted on light posts on many intersections now.

Adding a blue lightbulb is pretty cheap. A lot cheaper than a camera.

Those blue light are used by emergency vehicles. They are sensors that recognize emergency vehicles and turn the lights green for the emergency traffic.
