Default Polk City, FL.

Polk City is a small town in Polk County. I-4 runs by it. Borders Lakeland and Winter Haven. Very laid back. One red light. . .

Watch out for low areas, water floods certain areas, It use to really be cheap land there. I would drive that way to visit family in Clermont. It is beautiful area, and I would see signs 2000 acre. That was then 2 yrs ago.
My financial advisor loves it there she has 2 horses. It is close enough to shop in Lakeland.

What area's I have looked at while looking for land to build on has been depressing, Lot of old trailers and what seems to be anything but a city.
It is country living but it depends on the standard of living you are used to.
there good areas and bad areas. I'd suggest you spent fifteen minutes driving in the area before you decide where to live. also you must educate yourself on the polk county government. to build a home on your land will cost you in the neighorhood of $17,000.00 in impact fees plus property tax is about $18.00 per thousand of appraised value and rising. I hope this hasn't discouraged you about Polk City but only enlighted you about the area and Polk County. I live in Polk County and trying to sell our home, between the rising property tax and water shortage I find it very dangerous to continue living in Polk County.

Good luck on looking to move out of polk county, everywhere else is twice as much. I hope you do your research, we looked for 2 yrs and Lakeland was 17.00 , compared to other areas at 26.00 to 32.00. and insurance is twice a high as polk county. I think it is nice area, just like all areas of florida , it has some low areas. and you must watch for that. I see it as a area that will grow. I see there are some new homes going in that are way overpriced right now near I-4. I was shocked to see them.

Polk City Florida is still a small city with a comfortable "down home" flavor. The city is also experiencing rapid growth with an expected 2,500 new homes being built within the next 5 to 7 years.

The city is also expanding its infrastructure by building a temporary waste water treatment facility which will be used while the cities newest waste water treatment plant comes on line. This too is presently estimated for completion within the next 5 years.

The city has also recently received an additional 600K gallons per day pumping authorization for distribution within the city limits. This will be used to provide water to the 12 odd housing and multiple commercial projects presently planned within the city.

Combine this with a new City Hall being built and rapid annexation Polk City will soon be a much larger city while hopefully maintaining our "down home" feel. Our city has a website. Please visit Polk City, FL - Official Website to have a look!
