I have been watching the site and I can't WAIT until the Ikea is open...

The website is wonderful and their products are great, but ordering it so you have to pay shipping it defeats the purpose.

Now you can buy the stuff in the store and eat at their restaurant. You must order the Swedish Meatballs.

Can't wait for it to open.

I visit the Ikea in Atlanta often and just love the store. The furniture is ready to assemble. Somewhat cheap but so are the prices. Just wear a good pair of sneakers when you visit. I drove by the future Orlando location behind the Mall at Millenia today. Traffic is already gridlock in the area and just can’t imagine what it will be like when Ikea opens. Customers are known to drive hundreds of miles just to shop at Ikea.

Anyone know when the Ikea store is slated to open? I LOVED shopping at the Ikea in Minneapolis when I lived "up north" and can't wait to go shopping for some more "build it yourself" furniture for my apartment in Orlando.

I believe it's late fall 07. There is also one under construction in Sunrise (North Miami) at Sawgrass Mills and its on for a early fall 07 opening too. They say it will be Florida's first store.

Ikea is a great swedish furniture store. My mother has been working for them for over 25 years in Berlin-Germany. The furnitures are great, especially for kids they have lots of stuff. You cannot beat their prices and if you like European style you will love everything about it. (Platform beds, bedding , lamps, etc.) But you need to "rescrew" after a while (sorryfor my english) because wood "works" .
They have nice paintings/printings too. I love the lamps a lot. Anyway, I can't wait until they open. I sold all my IKEA funiture before I came to the USA and now I can feel like home a again. Have a great day.
