Good , Safe area to rent in, in Orlando area
Hi We're moving to Orlando and would really appreciate some help with the different areas there to rent in.
We have visited Orlando once a year since 2003 for Disney World. These past few years we have stayed off-site, this year down 192 at Hapimag Lake Berkley and last year the opposite end of the road in Kissimmee at Summer Bay.
We know from that experience we'd like to stay away from crazy busy areas like that, although Kissimmee didn't seem to bad while we were there...
We want to be close to WDW, but we don't mind a little 20 minute or more drive there.
We want a safe , nice neighborhood to either rent a house , townhouse or apartment/condo in. It would be wonderful to be near a Publix too.
Thanks for any info ~ I just know from driving around in Orlando the past few years that there are places we DON'T want to live ~ to steer clear of, but we don't actually know the names/areas of those places.
Oh, and we'd love to stay in the 1000 ish price range for a rental. Thanks again

It sounds like the Dr Phillips area would be a good fit for you. You have some back roads to both Disney and Universal. It's a safe area and if memory serves, there is a Publix on Sand Lake Rd.
Are there children involved? I only ask because while in the area you would have a choice of the better schools in the Orange County district, Seminole County schools are better.

Thanks for the response
Yes, we have children but we homeschool so we don't care about the schools.
Is that area a nice, safe area?
Thanks!

Also look at Hunter's Creek, Winter Garden (easy shot to WDW now the 429 completed) and possibly even Polk county.

I second the Hunter's Creek suggestion, has nice shopping center with Publix and not far is a newly developed area called the Loop with retail shopping, restaurants and a movie theater plus, you can get right onto Osceola Parkway and it will take you right out to WDW and Celebration which is a great place to just go get ice cream and let the kids walk around, play in the neat fountain, etc. they even bring in snow around christmas in the evenings for the kids to play in, Celebration always has great events going on that you can enjoy without paying the price to live there.

Our home is in a quiet safe area, directly across the street from Disney Wilderness Preserve. Publix, Wal-Mart and shopping are ten minutes. Disney World is 40 minutes. Three brand new schools within ten minutes. PM me for more details.Good Luck!

I will say no to Poinciana. There are some nice homes in the area, but Poinciana as a whole is a very cheap and somewhat problematic area. The other areas mentioned are much better.

Thanks for the input. It's hard because you see the nice houses but you don't know if the area is good or not...we're planning a visit in Jan. or Feb. just to check out areas and housing choices but are there any others besides the 2 mentioned above? They look great, but would like to have more options when visiting. Thanks again everyone for the responses!
