Default SFO to Orlando road trip

I live in the SFO bay area. I wanted to do a cross country road trip this christmas - new year season. I initially thought of a trip northeast towards NY , but later decided it would be a bad idea becoz of the short daylight hours. How is a trip to orlando as an alternative at this time of the year ? . Im planning to do one way by road and return by flight. I want to know what attractions I can cover on the way and what route to take . Im planning to take a whole 10-12 days for the whole trip . other suggestions welcome..

I did the exact same road trip this summer lol.

Started in San Francisco and finished in Orlando. The route I took was a bit long, but loved it!

The cities listed is where we spent the night:

San Francisco, CA

Los Angeles, CA

Las Vegas, NV

Torrey, UT (passing through Zion National Park and Bryce Canyon National Park)
-honestly one of the most beautiful drives I've ever been on. I've been to a lot of places including Australia and New Zealand and I have to say I was really impressed-

Moab, UT

Aspen, CO

Pagosa Springs, CO (using the Million Dollar Highway)
-also one of the most beautiful drives I've ever been on-

Carlsbad, NM

Houston, TX (have diner in San Antonio around the River Walk, very nice)

New Orleans, LA

Orlando, FL
