So then can I say Orlando's is only like that due to UCF?
What's Nashville's excuse? Because Opry Mills Mall was built? (They now have a "no one under 18 after 6pm rule because of so many gang fights there). I guess that's just semantics to you, huh?
I'm not scared of Orlando in the least - so you're opinion is more important how?
Why is that Sin Doner person even doing on here if they are so happy in Seattle? Why would someone happy take so much time to make people stay away from another city. It smacks of insecurity, actually.
PS: Sarcasm is for people with no ability to debate with facts. Should I do an LOLZ and an eye roll for you to come down to your level?

Strange since the facts are everywhere that Orlando has high crime, bad traffic, and horrible schools. City-data has all the facts for everyone to read. No need for you to sugar coat it because there's not a ton of crime around your high-class lake property. But once again, thanks for bumping this thread since the first thing people read is that crime is the #1 concern for people who answered the poll.
You are living in a fantasy world (or is that FantasyLand?), do you work for the Orlando Tourism Board or something? Saying the good in Orlando outweighs the bad is one thing, and I can't argue that opinion, but to claim the crime in Orlando is insignificant is just not right. I hope people spend their time wisely and do the research for themselves on this site and others.
I wouldn't want any people, who care about the same things that I do, making a mistake by moving to Orlando if they had better options.

Great post You are calling out a lot of people who are just on here with some sort of agenda or smear campaign against Orlando. Every few months a few malcontent people come on here and feed off each other in this anti-Orlando tirade and then seem to disappear. I am not even convinced it is not the same 2-3 people who just recycle user names to do it. I really agree with one of your previous posts today when you talked about how most crimes are drug related and how you can look for trouble. If you look at the several murders that occurred this year and break down the facts, almost every one is domestic or drug related. I too feel pretty safe and have never really had a problem and know several people that I work and associate with who feel the same way. The Orlando that is represented on this forum in some people's comments is nothing like the city I live in. They can have Seattle. I came running away from the NW about 3 years ago and never want to look back. There is nothing there for me, but if others can find enjoyment there, more power to them.
Also, got to laugh at how Sin Donor asked a question two days ago on the Seattle forum and no one has answered him. Got to love the icy Seattle reception which is very common there, as Seattlites are not very welcoming. Grass is always greener.

Actually I got a private response the same day that told me that Jerseys Sports Bar had the NHL games. So yeah. They also told me to join the Seattle Hockey meetup group, which I did. Good friendly people there.

I hope you continue to have those experiences, if you are even telling the truth because it is not the norm.
I am not saying people in WA are rude like NY or FL, but they are cold and tend to keep to themselves.
I think it is the type of people that states like WA or Alaska attract.

The only coldness I've felt here is that once in a while a Microsoftie doesn't say "thanks" when I hold the door open for them because they're too busy talking on their cell while playing with their windows mobile phone and sipping their latte. It beats getting shot at in St Cloud.
Otherwise, I've had a great experience so far. After my 2nd ice hockey practice session, one of the guys came up to me and asked if I wanted to join their team. So I did and all those guys have been really cool.
I am also outgoing, so I am used to starting conversations.

When someone says...worst experience in Seattle only being said "thanks" too vs being shot...one has to question the level of exaggeration and truth and if the person is telling the truth knowing the different between what is typical and what is rare. I lived in both cities and don't think the people were much different. You could compare St. Cloud to Federal Way and meet the same type of people. You can compare Dr. Phillips to Edmonds and meet the same type of people. It's more about the class level of the area you live in, not the city overall.

That is also a great statement that I agree with. A lot of the areas that this individual listed that he lived in were not all that nice as well (Davenport, Sea World area, Metrowest). Winter Park is nice and he lived there and Altamonte can depend where you live. Forest City and Spring Lake are very different areas. Just a thought, because I am not being shot at in Conway where I live or the UCF area where I work.

I agree with you both. I work in Altamonte, one of my best friends lives in Rosemont (shouldn't I get shot at there?!?!), I go see movies at Festival Bay which is very close to a bad/ high crime area on OBT, I live downtown, I frequent the Metrowest area quite a bit because that is where my partner works, I am at Disney all the time for concerts, saw 2 concerts at the Amway Arena last month alone (no issues, none at all), I walked (WALKED!!) to Orange Ave last night and had Sushi... I guess I must just have this safety bubble around me! I don't want to scare you all, but I actually drive on South Orange Ave at night to go shopping at Publix!!! How crazy am I???
I am not naive and I know there is crime. However I know that A) The crime came when the NE people moved here, and B) I am not in the crime areas looking for trouble.
If people are proud of where they now live they would stay on that board and help people trying to move there. Go to the Austin board and see how nice and friendly people are and how helpful. I just think that anyone that moved and comes back to the Orlando topics constantly might be having some issues dealing with their new home. It would make more sense to stay on that new city's board and talk about how great it is rather than smacking around Orlando's at every chance.
