I can understand tolling tourists but geesh to go anywhere you must have a cup full of change or that automatic toll thingy velcroed to your windshield. Irritating! If you try o avoid the toll roads be prepared to be stuck in traffic for an insane amount of time but in some places there are only one lane roads in wither directions with only one light every mile! So...it can take forever for you to even to reach an inersection. Another thing I noticed about Orlando is...their downtown sucks...other than Paradise Island down by Disney or whatever it is called there isn't much of a nightlife unless you are a tourist. I never had a desire to go to Disney and so life as a local life seems pretty boring. I went to that Lake Eola park near downtown. That is so not a park nor a lake...it's a pond. The historic homes surrounding the park are nice...but that's about it. I can't think of anything remotely interesting there....oh...the flea market. It's like the city has "no soul". That's the description I finally came up with after my fourth visit. The neighborhoods...you can't find them...the schools you can't find them...they are all enclosed behind walls or segregated in some way and so as you drive down a main street all you see are businesses. It's strange not to see families, bigwheels, or anything that screams "someone lives in this house" just from driving down the road. Orlando is just strange to me.

Unfortunately, this seems very accurate.

I am not here to argue with you, I am here to let people know that Orlando ISNT anything like what you doomsayers are making it out to be.
I agree with Jonotastic above. I cannot imagine living anywhere and not locking the doors as that is just stupid. The crime in Orlando, AGAIN, is centered in one area where drugs and prostitution take place. Anyone that thinks crime here is horrible (and especially those thinking they want to move to Nashville or Knoxville TN because it's the new garden of eden) haven't really lived anywhere else or just didnt pay attention.
I couldnt care less what you naysayers think of the city - my goal is to inform people who want to move here that they cannot go on what is said on this board.

With all due respect, how can you say the crime in this area is centered on one area? That's baloney. Crime is widespread in Orlando. Very often, places further from the central city get robbed. Turn on the news in Orlando and its home invasions, buried bodies in backyards, or a car running a red light and killing a family. But what do I know? I see this crap on the evening news and in the newspapers of your beloved city.

Make home-cooked meals. Don't waste money on luxury cars. Drop the entitlement mentality that you should be living the good life straight out of university.

We slept with our doors unlocked every single night. During the day our garage door was always open when we were home. That's my proof crime isn't everywhere and is more concentrated. Someone running a red light...well that happens in every single city in the world.

orlando has its problems, the crime is high, the people are rude, the drivers stink, there is no job opportunity, just to name a few out of 1000's. orlando is not what most people think it is.

It depends on your career. As a business owner, Orlando is great. Especially if you are in the restaurant business.
