Nobody is saying the problem is exclusive to Orlando. But the amount of crime this overgrown Disney town(not city) has is excessive.

I agree, and how rude people are, especially when driving 1. didnt used to be this bad and 2. shouldnt be as bad as it is, as Orlando isnt really a big city anyway.
I've been to much bigger cities in the Southeast (Charlotte and Atlanta) and I've never seen ppl drive so poorly and do the dumbest things I've seen in Orlando. Not only that, but how rude they are too.

Orlando metro is bigger than Charlotte metro, but much smaller than Atlanta.

Well said! Orlando is MUCH tamer in comparison to larger cities I been in. You would think the same posters would eventually get used to it also.

How does 123 murders grab ya? The year's not up yet; maybe we'll get a few more. Orlando is in a downward spiral...

I think the whole country is in a downward spiral and people are desperate.
I think that crime is more severe in a few parts of town, but there are several very safe areas as well. If you look through the murders listed, so many of them are domestic.

I agree, but the thought of me living near those same people that bring this crime to themselves disturbs me. It equates to their children going to the same schools as my children, their associates who share the same lifestyles as they, their way of life in the way of mine. You see, it's not so easy to simply say, "Well, as long as they blow themselves away, it's no problem for me;" their lifestyle is a cancer in our community that ultimately destroys it.

Look at stats from the 70's and look at them now.
I'm sorry, but you old timers are just stuck in the past. Yes the good ole days, when interracial marriage was illegal and during emergencies only the first class were allowed to escape first. Mmm good times...now we have equal rights, possible legalization of gay marriage, media reporting crimes, mafia's becoming extinct, yes we sure live in a much worser time.

I agree with this and you worded it very well, but I also do not live in Pine Hills or in an area that is littered with red murder tags or other crime on a map, so I do not feel like I am rubbing shoulders with criminals. I feel like Orlando needs to get a better handle on the crime and is trying to do so, but at the same time I do not feel like I need to live in fear. I am cautious and lock my house and car. I have outdoor security lights. I do not go to certain parts of town and am careful where I park my car at night, etc. I feel as economic times get better and more emphasis is placed on law enforcement and prevention, Orlando will improve from where we have been the past few years.
