I have checked into it and made sure the landlord knows about it, don't want any problems you know

That may be the case where you are now, but as far as the HOA's around here are concerned, babysitting two kids is the same thing as running a home day care--with or without a license. I would get it in writing in both your lease and from the HOA that babysitting is allowed.

Right. My sister in Palm Springs FL homeschooled her kids until high school and they had homeschool groups--lots of friends came from there. One of her kids wanted to go to school earlier than high school (probably because he was the youngest and the others were already in public high school and college), and he's in a charter school now.

I've known some kids that have wanted to go to HS too ~ not mine though, lol. They really enjoy being homeschooled and learning in the real world not behind a desk
How does he like the charter school?

Thanks for your information. I'm looking forward to visit the Kissimmee area this year. We are exploring the possibility of moving into the Central Florida area and we like to have as much information as possible.
Looking into a real estate listing from Caldwell, I found several houses under 100k in Kissimmee and I like to check some of them out.
Does anybody know anything about Lakeland? Better than Kissimmee?
Thanks in advance for your inputs!

Rudeness is a problem because people in this town are not patient on the roads because of their LONG commutes. Crime is a problem with teenagers because of the lack of parental subversion due in part to the lower paying jobs which lead to longer hours away from home (and the commuting time taking them away from home as well). The violent crimes committed 99% of the time involve those who are also committing crimes (gangs, drugs etc.). I have been here for decades and have never been a vicim of crime (knock on wood and have never felt unsafe in my neighborhood and enjoy this town and all that it has to offer. Plus, I think things are getting better....traffic is lightening and crime is on a downswing. Every community has its positives and negatives. This town has a lower income ratio than other parts of Central Florida and that can be a good thing for those who can't afford to live elsewhere but it also brings in the negatives.
If you are really interested in Kissimmee here are the zip codes that have the most to offer: 34746 (Pleasant Hill Road - this is where I live), 34747 (Celebration, 4-corners, Formosa area), 34744 (Neptune Road, Remington and Kissimmee Bay).
Hope this helps.

Honestly, if a home is under 100K here in Kissimmee then it is probably not in the best area. However, condos are a different story.
If you have a specific community/street I could give you more info.
Lakeland is a very nice town and has a lot going for it. Definatly worth checking into.

Tks for the info
I'm going to collect more information about the listing and I'll get back to you with some addresses.
How about condos or townhouses? Any particular areas you can recommend to us?
I'm going to do some research on Lakeland. My employer's main office is located there.
Thanks !

Gnerally speaking, I'd choose Lakeland over Kissimmee any day of the week.

MrWhite--what is it you are looking for in choosing your place to live. When we first moved to Florida we lived in Davenport for 4 years because my husband had offices in both Orlando and Tampa. We (kids and I) wanted to be closer to Disney than the beach. Now we live in SW Orlando-Hunter's Creek-and Kissimmee (Osceola Parkway) is 1/4mile from me. Lakeland offers everything you could want as far as shopping--but what are you hoping to enjoy while you are here? A lot of Davenport is almost all vacation rentals--both long and short term, but there are a few subdivisions in Davenport which are exclusively now almost 100% owner occupied year around. Loma Del Sol being a nice choice for that. If you can afford Celebration--that is an absolutely WONDERFUL place to live--but it is very expensive.
