The Orlando media sure likes to scare the citizens there. I stopped watching the news there because that's all it was. Even much larger cities with more crime don't even blow it up like Orlando news does. The newschannels there should be ashamed of themselves.

And as I stated in my other post, how about the rape of Nicole Ganguzza, I'm pretty sure she wasn't expecting that. Do you live in Orlando? If so, do you watch the news at night? I can't, I hate watching local news because 95% of it is crime related.
We understand there's MORE crime in bigger cities, but related to the population, Orlando is getting out of hand. Go on Moderator cut: link to a competitors site removed and look at crime statistics; it shows "All Violent Crimes" (murder, rape, robbery, & aggravated assault) is 2.82 times the national average in Orlando as opposed to Chicago's 2.18 or NYC's 1.23!
And here's a map that shows the murders in Orlando this year, showing it's not just Pine Hills & those associtaed with drugs & gangs...the facts are there for ignorant people like yourself. And I apologize for the seemingly harshness of this message, but when someone close to you is a victim of the Orlando murder wave, it hits home. RIP Nathan. Your link doesn't work to the shooting you claim has happened.
Thanks for posting that map! Now click on each person's name and you can see the drug related death information as well as the area of town where they were killed. Look at the bottom of the page where the Sentinel outlines the areas where most of the crime took place!
"Hot Spots: Most Orlando-area murders take place west of Interstate 4 and along Orange Blossom Trail. This year, crime hot spots include Pine Hills, Holden Heights, Americana Boulevard near Texas Avenue, the Oak Ridge neighborhood, and areas around Parramore and Washington Shores."
Metrowest is WEST of the city and I have stated on many occasions that area is very bad. However there was no person walking their dog and shot and killed. Read your website stats you just posted, and come back to me with information about someone shot walking randomly in Metrowest. You can go back 5 years if you'd like. The person killed in Metrowest was 3 years ago and was outside their apartment and was robbed.
Using Metrowest as an example - not a good idea..lol. By the way kid, I am 37 have lived here for 10 years now total and know exactly what I am talking about.

I never said she was killed downtown. I was comparing the fact that this woman I was referring to said she lives in the downtown area & it's so nice & women jog with their dogs at night so it must be safe, well Nicole was jogging in Blanchard Park where no one would of imagined someone being raped and killed. It's all over the place!

Hey old guy, glad you've lived here for 10 years..I've been here for 13, and in CFL for all 23 years of my life, so I know MY stuff.
And what are you talking about with the descriptions?!? Read the second one!... Noel Valenzuela - Incident Description: Valenzuela was picking up a friend from work at an Arby's fast-food restaurant when he was shot. Investigators think the motive was robbery.
But wait let me guess, according to your assumption, it was really a drug deal gone bad. Get outta here!!
Here, or the next... Christopher Jones - Incident Description: Jones was one of four men escorted out of a strip club for fighting. The argument continued into the parking lot for about a half hour, until one of the parties left. Witnesses said that man returned at about 10:50 p.m. and shot Jones.
Sure, he was fighting in a club, but that's no reason to be killed! I've fought in clubs alright, but don't deserve to have my life taken.
Here's another... Hunter Rosier - Incident Description: Rosier was stabbed at about 2:20 a.m. during a road-rage incident.
Again, it was a road-rage incident, yes, but have you never gotten pissed at or cussed someone out for cutting you off. Still, no reason to be stabbed to death!
NONE of them had to do with drugs, and NONE of them were close to Pine Hills. All these in the past month, by the way.
And sorry the article didn't work..but here just go to "CRIME NEWS" on the Orlando Sentinel website and you'll find it all over there.

Ever been here during a hurricane? For Francis the Cadaver Dogs were ready to sniff out dead bodies - 24 hours before the storm even hit!! HUNKER DOWN!!
As a journalist I would think you would know that in this age the news is secondary to how it is presented, what cool slogan is attached to it and the scurrry music played during it.

Fine, I'm tired of arguing with you..yes, the majority of murders are related to drugs or gangs, but that's still crime and if you happen to be driving by or riding your bike you can always be caught in the crossfire of something going down.
BUT, what originally irritated me was your comment that said, and I quote, "Tell me one random murder this year. Just one. Was anyone just driving down the street and shot?" I'm sorry but that's such an ignorant statement.
