We moved to Davenport 2 weeks ago. Love it. Havent had any traffic problems. Everything has been quiet and peaceful. We have chosen to rent till we get a little more familiar with this area. Coming from north GA we wanted a kinda country feel. DH works in Celebration basic office hours and is at work within 12 minutes. True that there is lots of vacation rentals here but its still nice. We were planning on moving over a 2 month period, came down to look for a house fell in love and stayed.

I live just down the road from Davenport. For a 20 minute drive down Hwy. 27, you will find a nice family oriented community recently building itself up. Snowbirds and vacationers might be nice but its not somewhere to raise a young family and Davenport is having a hard time selling real estate right now, If you decide to do it bargain your way down BIG TIME!!!! SOOOOOO many "almost" foreclosures in the area, get it for cost.

If your interested in a for cost home in Clermont send me a message. I have a 4 bedroom/ 2 bath/ excellent schools and neighbors for $214,000.

Default Living in Davenport, FL

I have owned a home in Davenport, FL since 2003 and love where I live. It is in the actual "City of Davenport". I have never felt safer anywhere else. We have the feel of a small town just a few short miles outside of the big city. It use to be very rural however over the last few years it has been growing. Just a few minutes away is Posner Park, a unique plaza that will include a mix of national and regional retailers (Target, BestBuy, Michael's, etc), entertainment, cultural venues, fine and casual dining and much more. There is a new elementary school "Horizons Elementary" being built behind the new Publix shopping center just south of Interstate 4 off of Highway 27, slated to open in August 2008. Just north of Interstate 4 there is a new mall being built. It is an up and coming area and I can't wait to be a part of it all.

Homes for sale... I am a Real Estate Broker in the short term rental market. There are so many houses for sale (in short term rental communities) because the short term rental market is over saturated and vacancies are up. It is costing vacation homeowners alot of money to maintain their investment, so many are trying to get out of the business by selling their homes. Highlands Reserve is probably the nicest of the communities to buy in. Lennar Homes did an awesome job with that community. There are some really good deals in there right now.

Traffic? You are kidding right? What traffic... This is nothing, try getting around Kissimmee or Orlando anytime of the day and then we can talk about traffic.

Davenport is in the "Heart of Florida". Right smack in the middle of the state and the same distance to east and west coast beaches. Close to Interstate 4 and Tollroads 417 and 429. It is a great place to LIVE!

I was researching Davenport and found this old forum post, I also found this link that seems to confirm what was here. Davenport is safe and relatively quiet. It might not have the best schools or the most things to do but you can be less than an hour for all that stuff and live in peace.

Default Davenport

Good Evening,

Will you living in Davenport full time or using it as vacation rental for income. Research areas like Champions gate. Davenport has a lot of vacation rentals and may not be suitable. For example if a home next door is a vacation rental you may people coming and going at all times and when your trying to sleep so you can go ot work in the morning it can get old soon.

Default Look for HOAs with Rules

If you're looking to live in Davenport, then check out the communities that have HOA rules against Air BNB and short term rentals. That is if you just want to be away from the vacation scene.

How does one regulate Air BNB, or even monitor such activity?
