Default A few quick questions about Windermere.

How is Windereme in terms of walkability? Can you walk to any stores? If not is there a bus that can take you to any stores? What about Winter Garden Village at Fowler Groves? I read somewhere on this forum that Winter Garden Village is not far from Windermere. Can you walk there? If not, is there a bus that goes there.

I whole heartedly agree with this response. The fact that you are asking these questions suggests to me that you are considering moving here without ever having been here. Had you been here, even on vacation you would know that everything is spread out and life without a car isnt really realistic particularly as taxis are expensive and quite frankly public transport is dreadful.

I cant stress enough how much i would recommend visiting the area and checking these areas out for yourself. I tell clients all the time whether they be people i meet in my day to day business as a realtor, but particularly people i meet on here, that online research is great because it gives you a little insight before you step foot in the door, but unless you have visited an area you wont understand the nuences. Windermere is a great area. I say that not only as a realtor but as a resident of the border of Windermere and Winter Park. It is one of the more affluent areas in Orlando. But one thing you need to understand is that no matter what community you look at, everything is spread out and unless you have a car, life will be extremely difficult, and most deffinatly extremely expensive.

Good luck.

I have been to Flordia...and I've been to Central Florida and there are some places you can get to without a car. I know it for a fact. I know it's only some places and the majority is not like that. I was told by someone on this forum that I could get by living in Winter Park without a car, wanted to see if any other areas were like that too. But you know what, maybe I should just forget my whole Florida idea and stick to where I am.

Im sorry if you feel we arnt being supportive, but i think its important to be realistic from the outset. As you have been here, you should know then how spread out everything is and that you will need transportation. Staying in a hotel where they provide shuttles everywhere is one thing but we are only trying to be honest with you. We, or at least I am not saying these things to put you off, far from it. I am saying these things as a resident who knows what I am talking about so that you know realistically what to expect.
