Did you see that post added to a number of threads advertising "their supposed friends home". I hate to say it and it does make me feel bad but when it is done in that blatant a way, it has to be an unscrupulous realtor. Its a great shame because it gives us good agents a bad name.

Just to let you know, owning a business is no longer a guarantee that you'll be able to stay. I personally know of several couples and their children who were not allowed to renew their visa's, despite owning profitable brick and mortar businesses that employed Americans, homes, etc.

Since 9/11 they have cracked down, and visa's are given for owning or purchasing a business here, but the requirements have been cracked down tremendously. It may be that when they bought or started it met the requirements then but now doesnt. This is why it is essential to engage an immigration attorney who knows what they are talking about and also one who is located here. You see advertised alot of immigration specialists who are cowboys and it could lead you into the same situation that it sounds like your friends were in. This is one area where you dont want to be cheap on how much you pay for an attorney because their advice and assistance is going to be the foundation for your new life.

As someone who innitially came here on an L-1 and only 2 years ago got a green card i am familiar with the situation, however, i would never presume to offer advise in this particular aspect.
