I am taking a job at Lockheed-Martin - Sand lake Rd. and need short term furnished housing? I have seen some of those extended stay places but I want to keep the budget under $250 a week. Any suggestions.

I want South because I will be commuting back to Sarasota area on weekends and I am more familiar with that area.

There are actually a couple of places very close to what you need--like 2-3 miles from Lockheed--if you are looking for something like a hotel situation. One place is brand new and just opened within the last few months. I just drove past it this afternoon and they are advertising rooms for $199 week. I believe it is called Value Place. It is on John Young Parkway across from where Darden Restaurants is building their new headquarters--so it would be Sand Lake Road east to John Young Parkway south. Also on John Young south but closer to Sand Lake Road there is another one that I think might be Homestead Suites (across from the WalMart Superstore), but it is on the corporate side of John Young--not the retail side...If you are interested, I will drive by to check the names for sure. If I were you, I would stay on the south side of Sand Lake Road--esp. if you head east from Lockhead. If you head west from Lockhead on Sand Lake, I would still stay on the south side of Sand Lake at least until I get past I-4. Trust me though, you don't want to head west--esp. when tourist season kicks in. You will sit in traffic for eons in the Universal Blvd-International Drive area.

I got an online quote from Homestead about $210 ( $30 a day ). I would like that info on Value Place. I know where that is on John Young. I have been up and down that road a couple times. I had to go to Kissimmee a lot this past summer and got around a that area a bit.

I hear ya about west going towards Dr. Phillips.

I'll try to remember to go by later. I also thought of 2 other extended stay type hotels close to you, but personally, I would go with one of the 1st two I mentioned just because of location. One is on Sand Lake going east toward Florida Mall but not that far down and the other is just off of the beachline tucked in close to OBT.

The number posted on the Value Place is 800-VALUE PLACE...I know that is tooooo many numbers, but that is what the sign says.

That 800 value place had the best rates. $100 less than next best rate.

$683 for 28 days vs $791 at Extended stay America

With tax that puts it at $199 a week like you say !!!

I don't think I can do much better.

Davenport and Kissimmee are filled with Short Term Rentals. Call a local property management company in either of those cities and you'll find tons. Most have private pools too. A few companies to try: Florida Finesse Property Management and Closetomickey.com (I have no affiliation with either one)

I would go for one of the 2--probably the Value Placed--just because it is BRAND NEW--I doubt that all of the rooms have even been all stayed in at this point. It's only about 1 mile further than the other place, but both are so close to where you need to be. Let me know what you think of whichever place you stay at. I would like to know just for future reference. Any way, good luck with your work here and the commuting bit.
