Or a single family townhome for 400,000. And jobs are having major cut backs, even hosptals are firing their staff! Crime is crazy...Gas is crazy...buing a loaf of bread is CRAZY!

The economy is whack! I Agree this is not the best time to move unless you secure a good job or have a large savings.

Make sure you find a job and a nice area to live or rent may be better.

Default Lake Mary vs. Windermere?

We are currently moving to Orlando and looking at homes in both Lake Mary and Windermere. I will be commuting to Maitland for my new job. Which has the worse traffic issue? Also if someone could tell me about how long that commute would be I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

Working in Maitland, you would be much happier commuting from Lake Mary than Windermere. You may also want to look into Winter Park. Avoid I-4 and commute down 17-92 and it should not be too bad in the mornings.

Ok, so I'm from Brazil and I'm going to be an international student in USA. I didn't know which state to go so I decided to research in this forum. So I have a question, is there any safe place in USA? it's weird, because everybody complains about all states! I think Americans should thank God all day for living in USA. If it's all that dangerous why there are no huge gates around the houses?
by the way I'm going to Orlando and I have talked to many people who lived there as an international student and all of them just say great things about the city, so I feel excited about going to Orlando.

I do not like orlando, at all, if you plan on moving here hear the truth, from someone that has lived all over the world, orlando has traffic problems, which are just a nuisance, but the people problem does not compare, this is the most unfriendly area in the world, i have live, all over europe, and south america, and all over us, this is the worst, i hate orlando, i want to move so bad, the people are the most unfriendly in the world, they wont stop to help someone dieing in the street, nyc is even more friendly than this place, and if your single like me, the women are the worst the most unfriendly in the world. The people are the most discourteous also. I held a door open for someone the other day and never received a thank you, or that i existed. You go to a 711 and you worry if you will get shot has you go out the door. Please do not move here, do your self a favor, especially if your single, find someplace else, even if the sun dont shine their, its gotta be better than orlando. Im orginallly from ny and i think the people in ny are more friendly. Please move away, and leave it to the nasty mean single women in this town

I asked in Lake Eola Park the other day, if their was a Ice Cream Parlor downtown, just to get directions out of curiosity, and you would think I was asking for a million dollars, the people here have gotta to start acting like human beings again, I think they forgot

Feeding off this post I can probably chime in with a different perspective. I lived in Daytona and Orlando for almost 8 years. Then I moved out to Denver, Colorado 2 years ago, and I really want to go back to Orlando.

Every single thing that people have commented and complained about in this thread also happens here in Denver, the "friendly" midwest, the "queen city" of the plains. (and in Miami, and in Baltimore, and in Philly.. The whole country is feeling it). There are rude people here, litter through out the streets. Everything is caked in grimey salt during the winter, its dry and nasty. I have crime in my 'hood too. My car has been broken into already and the walls are constantly tagged with wannabe "gangsters". Everything is tagged here, its disgusting.

Its the same traffic/crime/housing/economy/jobs problems too. So with disregards to that, you just have to pick an area you'd like better. I'm ready to trade in my lousy amusement park, mountains, frigid winters, over sprawled DIRTY city and seasons for Disney/Universal, beaches, warm winters, and palm trees once again.

If they all hate Orlando, then why don't they leave?
