Bithlo is a bit of a rural area with alot of old time red necks, alot of people around Orlando make fun of Bithlo you would have to live here to understand.

It`s one of the few rural areas left in Orlando don`t know for how long.

Would I live in Bithlo? Sure if I found a nice piece of land for a good price I could care less about people`s thoughts on the place but some do just thought you would like to know.

I don't know and I'm not here to judge but if you like prefab homes that are all bunched together in little "communities" and you love traffic, hot weather, rich socialites, and Hummers, then you might like Orlando.

There is one University here and one community college that has a few campuses spread out all over town. You have to drive EVERYWHERE, it's really hard to be green here.

Really, the only things to do for fun are to go to the bar and drink or shop at the same walgreens or walmart that is on every corner.

It's not a very diverse area. I don't even think the arts and entertainment here are diverse. It's not original or historic. It's flat with absolutely not scenery. All the great trees are being wiped away to make way for new prefab homes. I would rather live in a place that had plenty of scenery, diverse people, arts and entertainment.

All I know is that Orlando is not the place for me or my family. People here are extremely judgmental and it is definitely one of the most dangerous places to live in the United States.

Orlando ranked 11 on the countries most dangerous places to live in 2007 just below Cleveland, OH.

I am sorry you have had such a bad experience here, I read the other post about you being assaulted. In what way do you think people are judgmental? I have not noticed very much of that and you didn't really elaborate.

How about the ladies behind the counters at Nordstrom's who think I am going to steal something because I have full sleeve tattoos on both arms and literally follow me around the store. This happens every time I go there. You think they would know me by now since I am there practically every weekend. I should have said that people, and this is based from my own experience, are not very accepting of others in Orlando.

But that is just one instance and it would literally take me weeks to list them all here.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with disliking the place that you live in. I was simply replying to this post of why I do not like it here.

Some people think your not entitled to an opinion if it differs from theirs, often times those people are the ones that for some reason have the most to hide and become most upset at the truth. People spend lots of time convincing themselves of what they wish were true. When you here things like how great mid 90's with high humidity it is easy to figure out who those people are. Feeling threatened by others opinions is a clear sign of weakness of belief in your own.

I am not discrediting your feelings, I just wondered where you got that impression.

Nordstroms is in no way representative of Orlando. I'm treated suspiciously when I go in there, as well as Macy's and Bloomingdales [if you were referring to the Mall at Millenia] and I have no obvious attributes that one would think to discriminate against. Granted, I am on the younger side and do not resemble their average clientele in that I lack any kind of fashion sense whatsoever
Anyway, truth be told, those who are employed in high end, big name department stores like that always behave as if they have a stick up their butt. My boyfriend when into Macy's one time to purchase a gift card for his mother. If I'm lacking the qualifications to shop there, he might as well be an alien from another planet when he enters the store. Anyway, I don't think the cashier said one word to him or looked him in the eye throughout the entire transaction. When we left, we just laughed about it; regardless of appearances and perceptions, he's the one who can afford to purchase the gift card and the cashier is the one making minimum wage to sell the gift card to him.
I respect your opinion on Orlando but I just wanted you to know that you are not alone in being treated like crap in department stores like Nordstroms.

In addition to my last comment, I, too, am upset at the number of cookie-cutter homes and neighborhoods being built in Orlando. If you head downtown or in any of the older neighborhoods in College Park or Windermere, however, you can still find a lot of old Florida charm.
Also, I was recently accepted to UCF and will be working in the Waterford Lakes Town Center a couple minutes up the road from the university. I consider myself to be very pleasent towards all customers, regardless of where I work, so don't think all Orlandoans are unaccepting or distant.

I realize that Norstroms is not a proper representation of Orlando but the employees there are. I live in Thornton Park and trust me most of the people that live there are just like the snobs in the department stores.

I hate to tell them but they are nothing special considering they work in a mall.

Thanks for your response!

Have a great day!
