There are nicer and quieter pockets of BVL though. It gets a worse rap than it should really. Not the nicest, but it is nowhere near Pine Hills either! Here's to being content!

I have noticed from this thread that my assumption is correct. Most my friends on the east side of town complain more than my other friends. I work by UCF and there are several people at work that complain about where they live and they always live in Waterford or some weird area along Chickasaw or Dean that I don't know why they ever got property there thinking it is nice.
It is the same complaints mentioned here, traffic, hustle and bustle, rude drivers, graffiti, red light runners, kids with loud music and mufflers, etc. That same general lack of courtesy that turns people off.

I live a block out of the dreaded Pine Hills. In Rosemont
I have great neighbors and have no fear of walking around my neighborhood at any time of the day or night.

I, myself, don't find the people generally rude, but then again I'm not rude to others.
The traffic is worse in other cities so I take those complaints with a grain of salt.

When I retire, I'm leaving Florida but just because I'm tired of the flatness and I want a change. Nothing to do with these alledged problems.

I live in Clermont, but am considering selling this house and moving to a hi-rise condo in downtown Orlando once the market improves.

One of my best friends at work lives in Rosemont and he says although he is a minority (and he is white) that everyone in his neighborhood is nice, and he never has any issues with crime. He doesn't fear the area either.

I live near Vista Lakes/Lake Nona and love it. I leave home by at 6:45 AM and am sitting downtown by 7:03 almost every morning. No traffic issues at all. On the other hand, last week I left downtown at 5:00 to go to Longwood for a meeting. It took 90 minutes to get there - traffic was a nightmare. I guess it can be bad anywhere.

Hunter's Creek---and now that we have all of the shopping at the Loop, I never need to leave here for anything if I don't want to. The homeowner's association can be a pain at times, but that is what keeps the area looking nice. Sometimes I think I would like to try Dr. Phillips or Celebration, but I have 2 kids in HS and they don't want to change schools--even though the other schools would be better.

I have been in search of other places which I might like to live--and I always go during the winter when it is likely to be cold & grey. By the time I get back to Florida, I am always happy to see my Florida sunshine. It's always then that I have to reconsider how badly I really want to move.

I do need to checkout Texas and the southwest, but short of finding anything there, I think I will probably find myself calling Florida home. I do not like winter.

I live downtown between Lake Cherokee and Thornton Park, 32801 area. I love it, wouldn't want to live anywhere else. I think there are wonderful areas in 32806, 32801, 32803, 32804 to live and the commute to anywhere from here is easy.

I think those are the parts of town, along with 32789, that many people that do not know about Orlando do not even know exist. They are very quaint and graceful. I love the areas around Downtown Orlando.
