Local rock/metal live music?
Looking for some good live music bars to hang out in with the locals around the Disney area. (lbv, windmr, clermnt, wintgrdn)
Seems like the venues are pretty far spread out from what I can tell online. I'm a new Floridian lost in this big city. Help???
Thanks!!!

In the specific areas you mentioned, there are only two places to see live rock bands playing original music. There might be other places with cover bands and there are definitely other places that have live music of other genres.
One is House of Blues in Downtown Disney. The other is sporadic, there are metal shows with local "garage" bands at the Jenkins Aud in downtown Clermont. They are usually in the late afternoon/early evening on Saturdays. I haven't been, they are generally thrash metal bands. Not my cuppa tea.
The other local venues with hard rock and metal:
Hard Rock Live at Universal.
Downtown Orlando:
The AKA
The Social
The Globe
The Back Booth
Club Firestone
Central Station
The Lodge
Wall Street Plaza
Amway Arena
Northern Orlando (Colonialtown area):
Will's Pub
The Plaza Theater
West of I-4/Rosemont:
The Dungeon
Winter Park/UCF/Casselberry Area:
The Haven
Holly & Dolly's
UCF Arena
(There 's also a new club up that way, but I can't remember the name of it.)
Disclaimer: I haven't been to all of these. Some only open when they have live music, others are dance clubs/karaoke/local bar type places when they don't have live bands. Some showcase a variety of music, from electronica to metal. Call ahead to see what's going on. If you respond with some of the national bands you like, I can give you the names of similar local bands and you can check out their schedules on myspace.

This place is a little out of the way, but well worth it:

Thanks for the info! Looking forward to checking some of these places out. My interest doesn't exclude cover bands completely. It's something I may enjoy on occasion but cover bands get old for me pretty quick.
As for national bands, Trivium, 30 seconds to mars, basically rock with some melody to it so not so much on the death metal side unless of course they have a melodic sound.
Thanks again guys!

The Haven, Backbooth, Social, AKA, and Plaza Theater, plus of course Hard Rock, House of Blues, and the arenas will be your best bet given your tastes.
