The job is at Disney and my parents live half of the year in The Villages and I was looking for a nice/safe area that is central to both. The Winter Garden, Ocoee and Windermere area has the location I'm looking for, I guess I would rent for the short term and then get a condo or house.

Oakland is a small town that is quaint. It's between Ocoee and Winter Garden. Ocoee might be just a bit too close to West Orlando for comfort (crime). Winter Garden seems okay. I don't live there but I live in East Orlando and don't hear too much bad about it. Windemere is a ritzy area, might be too expensive. Hope that helps a bit. Best Wishes!

Skip Ocoee.....like a lot of Orlando it has really gone downhill....lots of crime. I'd look to rent somewhere in the Windermere area. You can rent a home out in the Summerport area off of 535 for a good price these days. Lots of people have their homes up for sale and can't sell them....so they're turning into landlords. Easy commute to Disney as well.

I just moved to a new location in the Southern part of Winter Garden near where a new open air mall will be built. Nice place. It's very convenient and seems pretty safe. It's also near Windermere.
The city has lots of plans for growth. Check out a recent article about it: http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/...owth-headlines You have the 429 and the Turnpike right there. |

What about Clermont? I was sorta looking for the next rual area that will be taken over by urban sprawl on the western side of Orlando.

Clermont is nice and is growing pretty fast. It's the same with WG but the distance factor was a big deciding factor for us. Clermont in our opinion had the "isolation factor" whrereas WG still felt closer to civilization.
There are lots of properties for rental these days but the time to buy is now. If you can afford it, I'd say do some more research and go for it. |
