We are also not disputing that the northern suburbs have their positives but because it's not always feasible to even live there if you have to work on the south side of town, it's just simply thoughtless of this poster to keep tearing down a great place many of us call home. We have great neighborhoods in which is safe to run and jog, we have beautiful parks in which to ride your bike or fish, we have new shopping areas, new housing and schools. Repeatedly calling the MAJORITY of Orlando as ghetto is irresponsible and downright a bold-faced lie. Any MAJOR city has good areas and bad areas and if you ask me, coming from the Philadelphia region, this man has no idea what a ghetto even is... or what kind of crime even occurs in a major metopolitan area such as Philadelphia, Baltimore, NY, Wash. DC. Orlando's population is not far behind these other major cities. The crime here doesn't even COMPARE. If he expects to find a place that doesn't have low income people with undesirable neighborhoods anywhere in this country... well more power to him. I'm sure all of us agree life isn't how it once was with regard to crime, crime is much worse that it once was (EVERYWHERE), and FL weather is HOT. People know this already so why beat that discussion to death on these boards. For me, I'd rather let people help people begin a new life in FL with focusing on the positives and letting them know there are negatives, just like where they came from. There is no perfect place to live and everyone has a different set of circumstances so please stop beating a dead horse with your negativity. By the way, I believe that "Negativity" post was based upon all your postings. |

So Dean Road is good now???
Dean rd is awful. I will go to my cousin's next weekend and will take pics. Maybe we should post a poll here and people can decide and vote whether or not Dean Road is nice or trash. Ps. We need a "angry poster" post. It will be all about yours and BMurphy's. Chill out, it's just a board. No need to get all mean. ![]() |

Look Nirvana, I'm not angry, just a little PO'd that you keep bashing East Orlando and other parts of town. You seem to take great joy in scaring people with your paranoia and crime statistics. Maybe you should be in in law enforcement? You'd make a great cop. On this particular post, people are asking what Orlando suburb is good.... not what road is bad. I and others consider Waterford Lakes,Vista Lakes and other areas "suburbs" of Orlando even though we have an Orlando mailing address. We are 12-15 miles east from downtown Orlando.
Who cares about Dean Road anyway did someone ask about Dean Rd, and I missed something? I think most people will know they are in a bad area before they rent or buy, don't you? Your statements are so black and white. All of Dean Rd. is ghetto? All of OBT is ghetto? All of Colonial is ghetto? All of Orlando is ghetto? You're line of thinking is way to skewed and not appropriate for people outside of the area to make a uniformed decision. My impression of you is that you are a very young man with not a lot of life experience. You make so many statements that may be true for some places in Orlando but you want to categorize a whole area as a ghetto or a dump. You grew up on the west side of town, so you think all parts east of I-4 are East Orlando... I get it. I've seen plenty of nice neighborhoods between Waterford and I-4 that are decent yet you bash everywhere. I guess I should also pack a gun the next time I go to our favorite sports bar to watch Eagles football over at Conway & Michigan? Please. I've got several friends also that work downtown and don't share your perspective nor witnessed any crime. Doesn't mean it doesn't happen, but the way you write things is like, stay away from downtown Orlando because you'll be robbed and raped!! Don't jog in East Orlando, you'll be mugged and raped!!!! Again, I say... pa-leeze. I'm really not sure why you come to these board other than to **** people off. You're really not worth debating with any longer, you can continue with your rants. Hopefully people can tell what information is good and which information is rubbish. Quick question though, will you leave the Orlando boards alone once you move to NC? Here's hoping! |

Just use the ignore function. It works great. I still feel sorry for those innocents who come to the board with real questions....but at least my blood pressure stays down! LOL

After spending some time on Sanibel island which is off the coast of Fort Myers, I have been thinking of moving there. When I have been there, no one was killed, the only crime they reported was a string of minor break ins to homes, when no one was present. Naples is a very upmarket area and the housing prices in Fort Myers are still reasonable.

I agree with all that pianogal has said. The areas that she recommended are good options for you. I spent some time this weekend looking for investment properties in the Lake Nona area. My goal is to spend around $200k. I found townhomes in East Park, between Lake Nona and Vista Lakes. The 2 bedroom townhome with a 1 car garage is around $195, and you could get a 3 bedroom for just over $200k. The HOA fees are reasonable also. Even though you goal is to spend around 200K there is no reason to put yourself through making a 30+ minute commute from any area outside of the East side of Orlando. You have lots of options here in great neighborhoods. Definately if you are willing to look at townhome/condo options you will be just fine. I also looked at a 3 bedroom, 3.5 bath, 2 car garage townhome in Avalon Park over the weekend. Brand new construction for $200k. You will not find these prices online. The builders do not advertise there inventory pricing online.
