Please advise on neighborhoods/apartment complexes in these areas that would be safe, also convenient to the John Young Parkway.

I wouldn't advise living in Metrowest. Anything in Dr. Phillips will be safe, the neighborhood just depends on your price range.

Could you elaborate? I'm curious.

Metrowest can be a deceiving area... it looks nice, but it's very close to some bad areas- Pine Hills to the north and the Kirkman area to the east. Because of this it has attracted crime over the years. I know the police were really trying to crack down on it but I still wouldn't advise living in the area. I consider it a buffer zone between the bad areas and Dr. Phillips.
