Post Paramedic in Orlando/Kissimmee

Hello,

My husband & I and children are looking to relocate to Orlando/Kissimmee. I was hoping to get some input on the schools/Paramedic-Firefighter positions and how the pay is. We are currently living in CT. If someone could help us we would greatly appreciate it.

My brother-in-law is a Firefighter going for his Paramedic for Osceola County. I will ask if they are hiring at this time. It was pretty competitive when he was being hired a year ago. I will also ask him the pay range.

Paramedic firefighters in central Florida make $35-50K depending on experience. Lake County seems to be constantly hiring, but usually want you to either have been through the fire academy or be an EMT-B before they'll hire you.

My husband is one of the assistant chiefs at reedy creek, disney's f.d. he also used to be dept. chair of fire/ems at seminole community college. My sisters in law are both lieutenants at st.cloud, and one at kissimmee. For schools, there is Seminole Community college, there is valencia, and mid florida tech. valencia doesn't have the fire program any longer but S.C.C. and mid florida tech has both emt/paramedic and also fire training. my husband also is on the florida legistlature for emt/paramedic/firefighter rules and guidelines too. i was a former emt back in the day, but i completed my training at daytona beach community college.

I was going to recommend Seminole Community College. I have a friend that graduated from there about 2 years ago. It's an awesome school! He finally found a job after about 9 months in Seminole County. It's hard to get a job b/c they may have 100 applicants only pick one person. Not saying you shouldn't go for it, just giving some insight. I heard Lake County hires more often too.
