Let's not forget the fact that northern libs tend to "buy" their way into the Ivy's...(and some rich conservatives also). Not the environment I want my child in, really. SAT scores may be higher, and I tend to think that is because they can all afford to pay for tutors to teach to the SAT prep of the child. Everyone is teaching 'to the tests' as it were these days.

Most anyone in higher education will tell you the Ivys are overrated and the biggest farce of the American secondary education system. They are constantly being raided of their faculty members by other schools. Take a look at Emory's faculty in the graduate school of business. Most of them were hired away from Wharton.

And what's wrong with individual effort being responsible for an individual's success, no matter where they go to college?

Agreed, and this was more or less where I was headed with my point. Each of us is responsible for our personal success, and many many millionaires (and otherwise successful persons) never even went to college at all! (not that I am advocating that path necessarily....)

I went to elementary, middle and high school in Longwood/Lake Mary. If you are moving to Central Florida then Seminole County schools, especially Lake Mary would be the best bet. Private schools can be extremely expensive and sometimes overrated. Alaqua Lakes is a nice community and many people who live in the area tend to stay. Good luck.
