Default Any info on Lake Nona?

We'll be moving to the area when (if....) our house sells and are intrigued by what little we've heard of Lake Nona (last time we were in Orlando it wasn't there) We had originally planned on living in the Lake Mary area but it would be nice to be closer in. We'd love to hear any opionions, information or advice people have regarding Lake Nona. How is that area for crime? Are houses selling? What are the price ranges?

We'll be in Orlando in a couple weeks so we can check it out for ourselves but would like some inside information. Thanks.

I just moved to the area myself...bought a townhouse in the 32832 zip code. When I checked the number of police incidents by zip code, the two Lake Nona codes were so low they barely registered. Seems to be very peaceful, but I have not been here long enough to really say.

As far as the housing market here, you have most of the developments having been built during the boom, so most of those original buyers are either facing resetting rates or are underwater. If you are interested in a single family home, I have seen some in the Eagle Creek (I think that is the name) subdivision going for well under $200k.

Great place to live! Been here for 2 1/2 years raising a family with two young boys. Schools here are great, AAA+! New high school being built and opening this fall I believe. Shopping is good at the moment but more and more retail shops are being built. I heard movie theaters are in the works with more shopping. Medical city is on it's way as it will create new jobs as this medical city will boast numerous hospitals, a medical school, and other businesses in the works.

As for homes, in my opinion its a good time to buy as homes have gotten ALOT cheaper. New townhomes that were near or in the 200's are now between 140-170's. Two story new homes use to be in the HIGH 300's to low 400's in some areas are now between 270-325's. Neighborhoods are peaceful and friendly.

Lake Nona is located between two major highways, not far from the theme parks, the beaches and other shopping areas such as Waterford Lakes, The Loop and The Florida Mall area. All in all it is a great place to live and raise a family.
