A 28-year-old man who was gunned down while riding his bike Wednesday night became Orange County's 19th homicide of the year -- a total that is double the amount of last year's murders at the same time in March, according to police.

Investigators said Sean Council was taking a short cut on his bike through a lot on Amelia in Orlo Vista area near MetroWest when he was shot.

Man, Woman Charged With Tampering With Evidence

COCOA, Fla. -- A man and a woman accused of eating crack cocaine during a traffic stop are out on bail Wednesday, according to Local 6 News partner Florida Today.

Lawrence Clements Jr., 22, and Krystal K. Ray, 19, were charged with tampering with evidence and possession of paraphernalia.

According to a report, a Brevard County sheriff’s deputy pulled over a car at 1514 Clearlake Road in Cocoa on Monday. As he approached the vehicle, he said he saw the occupants swallowing crack.

Another Mexican illegal immigrant is killed

Four Mexican immigrants have been killed in less than a year in the same tiny area of Orange County.

Jose Merced-Navarro died about 11 p.m. Sunday during a home invasion just blocks from where three previous victims died during bungled robberies, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

It was the 18th killing of 2007, twice the number during the same period last year in unincorporated Orange County.

Law-enforcement officials say robbers across the U.S. target neighborhoods where Hispanic construction workers and day laborers, many of whom are illegal immigrants, live.

Apartments in north Orlando's Rosemont section and along Semoran Boulevard have been the site of frequent robberies. Robbers have become so brazen that as many as 15 illegal immigrants at one time have been forced to empty their wallets at gunpoint.

Cool heads prevailed after school stabbing

Michael was attacked shortly after dismissal in a fight over a girl. Fellow student Kelvin De La Cruz, 17, was later found hiding in a classroom and charged with killing Michael. A folding knife with a 3-inch serrated blade -- thought to be the murder weapon -- was found inside the building.

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- Illegal Immigrant Arrested For Attack on Tourist

Orange County Sheriff’s Deputies said 18 year old Pedro Ramirez followed a woman from the pool at the Marriott Grande Vista Resorts, near I-Drive in Orlando, to her room on Saturday. She told investigators that since he had an employee uniform, she was not concerned.

Detectives say Ramirez went on to threaten the woman with a knife and then grope her, but she managed to fight him off. He reportedly ran away, but deputies tracked him down. They said he was working at the resort, but had three fake identification cards and is here illegally from Mexico.

My mom is a court reporter. She has worked in the Miami-Dade county courts since the late 70's. Now, what she mention at her job was heart breaking. I can't even begin to repeat the wicked crimes that she had to hear of.

A regular scene at her job was poor little teenage girls that was gang-raped and also murders that were horrific and sexually related. I can't go into the details, but I almost threw up at some of the stories. Very sad. These storys you posted are terrible, but keep in mind,there are one's the news can't talk about. Those are the one's she took.

there is crime in orlando. i am not affected by it. maybe you should move. the school stabbing was like last summer. i thought you said this happened this week?

once again, it's the same areas for the most part --- i dont see this behavior where i live. move out of pine hills or parramore. get a job and move to a safer place.

if one cant afford to move out of crime-ridden areas, i truly feel bad for you. but this guy just spends too much time finding the negative. my advice to him is to move to montana or alaska perhaps.

I'm sorry, but I have to agree. There's crime everywhere and people act like Orlando is one big ghetto. Do you want a prize because it's got crime or something?

The problem is over half the people that post here haven't lived here very long. The people that I think it effects is the ones that have lived here for a long time. Crime wasn't like this years ago. Yes I know crime is everywhere but not like it is now. I guess the guy who was at CompUSA the other day that got shot in the leg was probably in the wrong part of town. I can name a bunch of car jackings on my side of town (Conway), robberies, b&e's. My dad lives next door to a Deputy who I talk to and I talk to some of the OPD people and they all say it's getting bad. Not just in the bad areas. Orlando is not one big Ghetto but it has changed alot. I've lived here over 37 years so I've seen alot. Just because nothing has happened to you yet doesn't mean it's not happening. Hopefully it doesn't.
