Hi!

I'm thinking of moving to the Orlando area. I currently live in Connecticut. I've read the other threads and got the point, don't move unless I'm fully prepared and have a job on hand. Got it.

So, with that in mind, I would like to know what's the average price of the basics in order to have a realistic idea of how much it costs to live in the area.

How much is:

1. Rent for a one or two bedroom apartment.

2. Water

3. Electricity

4. Anything else that I might not be taking into account.

Thanks!

Rent - If you look real hard you might find a studio or 1br in the $550-650 Range. Avarage 1br is around $700 but if you want a washer/dryer in your apartment and want to live in a nicer area then plan on $800-900. You won't find a clean 2br under $800.

Water - Isn't so bad; around $60-$70 and alot of apartments include water.

Electric - Depends. If you get an apartment with a window unit its going to be more expensive than a place with central heat/air. During the summer is the worst. The avg air bill for a 2br sized place will be around $150-200.

You have a car? Public transit is horrible. But insurence down here isn't too bad. I'm 24yo, just got my license and I pay around $150.

I live in Kissimmee just off 192 near the Turnpike exit at Academy Village apartments, I am in the larger 1 bedroom at $765 a month, there is a smaller 1 bedroom that is a bit less like I think $725. I really like the location of these apartments and have had no trouble there and most important to me, they took pets. Across 192 from these are some brand new ones, I think the name is something with a V, can't remember, but I'd bet the prices are similar. I get 1 utility bill and I can't tell you whether water is on it with the electric or if the water is included but the utilities are no more than $100 a month, lately without running the A/C as much is more like $75. I have to have it cold at night to sleep so I do use my a/c just about every night and have it off during the day. Hope this helps....
