Yes Orlando IS A Much More Dangerous City Than New York. Crime IN Miami Is Lower But Miami Dade Metro Over Orlando Metro is About The Same But Just Orlando/Orange County Boundaries, Orlando IS Worse

living in Orlando for the past 3 years & having spent nearly 3 decades in Miami I was apalled at how much crime the Orlando area has for a metro that is less than half the size of Miami's. In the first few months here I had a road rage incident were a angry driver tailgated me on a road and pulled a gun on me as I turned into a shopping center! My neighbor's house have had their cars broken into, things stolen out of their garages and the gas station near my home was robbed and this is in Avalon Park area which isn't some shabby area.
My brother's bank branch on Lake Underhill was robbed in broad daylight. The amount of random shootings & robberies at restaurants and stores is unbelievable too.The crime here seems to be scattered throughout whereas in Miami you expect certain areas to have high crime rates all though it does happen outside of those areas too. Is Orlando worse? I can't say but for a metro of its size it has way more crime than I ever expected.

While I hear all these stories and new articles about how bad Orlando has gotten since I left (4 years ago), my recent visit to the area didn't prove any of this to be true. Obviously there are bad parts of town that you know to avoid, but the news down there makes it seem like the streets are full of gangs and criminals. I currently live in Raleigh, NC and there is soo little crime here that they report on some really retarded stories just to fill content (just to give you an idea of what I have to compare it to).

Unfortunatly crime has invaded every area of the Orlando metro. Crime and gangs are on the rise. Home envasions are now occuring even in high end areas like Oviedo.

Crime is not on the rise. It is proven in the murder statistics...it is way down from the last 3 years. Now, I can't say that the other types of crime are down for sure, but usually if one is down, so are the others. I don't see why we would have a drastic decrease in murders with an increase of assaults and armed robberies.

In the Avalon park area I wouldn't say it's horrible, but in recent years it has gone up by a god amount. And near colonial [50], right near Avalon park they have those low income housing units witch I hear is nothing but trouble. They are 3 stories tall and every part of it is made out of plywood. Bad construction. Your definitely right about crime going up in every area of Orlando.

every city that has taken katrina evacuees will drop its crime back to normal levels in about 2 more years. the thugs will just kill each other until there is none left to kill, same thing happened in Miami it started in 1979 then ended in about 1998, took a bit longer, but it will happen.

I'm a NYC resident for 43 yrs, I don't feel safe in NY at all anymore. That is my personal opinion. There is no safe place on this planet anymore. Get microchipped and nanny cams.
