hi all, we purchased a second home that is to be done this month. we visited the home yesterday and while everything was quite up to spec, the hvac isnt. i looked at the standard spec list and we were supposed to get a 14 seer rated hvac, instead we got a 13 seer rated one. if you guys were in my shoes what would you do? should i just leave it alone? any feedback would be much appreciated. thanks

If the 13 seer is adequate for the house you are buying, I'd make the builder refund the cost difference between the two. If the house really needs a 14, make him replace it. End of story.

If the contract states 14 seer, get them to put it in.

Seer has nothing to do with "will it work for this house"

Its all about efficiency for comparison purposes.

14 is more efficient than 13, 15 is better than 14, 16 is better yet.

thanks for the reply guys, yeah it says 14 seer on the contract. is it really worth to get it replaced with a 14 seer hvac? they said they will replace it with a lennox 14 14 seer system. currently installed is a carrier 24hbb3 heat pump. and as per contractor(not ac contractor) the carrier is actually better quality and more expensive than the lennox?
