Young Chap Moving To Orlando
I'm going to be 19 next year and I plan on moving to Orlando then to get a little start in music. I live in Melbourne right now and I hear that Orlando has a decent music scene. I want a cheap studio/apartment and from Apartments.com I found this place.
Carlton Arms South - 4444 S. Rio Grande Ave. | Map & Driving Directions | Apartments.com

It's located east of I-4 northwest of Orlando International Airport near Holden Heights, is this a safe area? All I ever hear is don't move to Pine Hills.
From the website it looks like a nice little studio for only $500 a month in a good central location I could be wrong.

That area is not in Pine Hills but it is very bad. This is in the South Orange Blossom Trail area that you will see others on this forum will constantly tell you to avoid.
For the most part, avoid apartments in the 32805, 32811, 32808, and 32839 zip codes.
If you are looking for cheap affordable areas, look into 32822, 32792, 32701, and student areas around UCF in 32817, 32765. Hunters Creek (32837) and Lake Nona areas (32827, 32829 Lee Vista techinically, 32832) also have some nice areas.

You want to get a little start in music, why not reach out to the local music community and see if anyone is looking for a rommate (they often are.)
It's a pretty cool community around here, they tend to welcome newcomers and help each other out--moreso than I've ever seen anywhere else I've lived. Lot's of gig-sharing and such.
What type of music interests you?

I'm defiantly more involved with more experimental type rock music - Coldplay, Radiohead, Sigur Ros, U2. And I'm also heavily involved in ambient type music Boards Of Canada, Burial, Jon Hopkins, Stars of the Lid. From what I've seen and heard Orlando is very much a heavy rock/scremo area, so I don't know really how well I will fit in.

You are right, Orlando is a hard rockmetal town with some alternative/indie thrown in.

Do you think I'll be excepted?
I was thinking about moving to England but I hear it's impossible.

Accepted by the local musicians, they seem very supportive of each other around here, so yes. Finding guys to play with might be more difficult. Finding a place to place out, very likely not.
