I couldn't name many of the radio personalities here in town....but her's was one of them.

I enjoyed listening to her in the mornings. This station is always on in the gym and she made it much more enjoyable.

RIP Erika. You will be missed.

her funeral is being held today.

Friends, family celebrate life of Erika Roman

Bianca Prieto | Sentinel Staff Writer May 6, 2009 Note: An earlier version of this story contained the wrong day of Roman's death

When their crack-addicted mother abandoned 5-year-old Erika Roman and her baby brother at a New York bakery, their lives looked grim.

She survived foster care, was adopted by a loving family in 1990 and worked to become a star. The popular Orlando radio host was finally reconnecting with her long-lost family when she was killed in a car accident on the Florida Turnpike last week.

I just read the article in today's Orlando Sentinel and she sounds like she was an amazing lady, I am so sad to hear when someone who has overcome so much dies too young. But when I read the part she wrote in her journal about being ready to die as she had found her father and half brothers, it was as though she knew something was going to happen, very surreal. And she dies on the way to meet them, you could not write a book with an ending like that.

This was tremendously saddening to me the day I read it for the first time. It was also encouraging that so many people stopped and tried to help her. She will definitely be missed.
