Default Clermont or Winter Garden?

Hello. My family is seriously looking at relocating from Maine to the Orlando area this summer. We'd be renting at least in the beginning. My 2 kids are in middle school and high school, respectively. I was wondering what anyone could tell me about Osprey Ridge in Clermont and West Pointe Villas in Winter Garden. I've heard some good things about Clermont schools but haven't done much research on Winter Garden yet. Are the complexes in decent areas of town? Lots of crime there (yes I know crime in Orlando can be high)? We don't want to spend an arm and a leg and these both seem to have reasonable prices. Looking forward to any info you can give me. Thanks!

My aunt and family has lived in Clermont for over 20 years. They built a house out there a long time ago and it's great, safe, area for a family. I don't know too much about Winter Garden but what I remember it was always kind of a patchy area. Clermont hands down for sure.

Default I used to live in Oakland.. near Winter Garden

If I could move back .. I'd chose WG over Clermont.
Clermont feels more like the place to shop not to live.. too built up and they've taken down all the oranges trees for neighborhoods. Call me silly, but WG feels more like a community. Clermont exploded in the wrong direction since we moved away in 06. It's safe but the hills are no longer pretty...

We go to WG Pizza every time we visit (going back for a week next month to visit the old neighbors)..

Default misdee

Hello I just signed up today. I can see how to post reply , but how does one post a question?
We live in a wonderful Philly suburb. We met in Miami and visit each year.
I always said,"If we could recreate our community in Florida we would
move back in a heartbeat!".
My husband was raised in Kendall. Miami is way too fast and flashy.
I guess we like a small town feeling. Where the kids at your school may actually live in your neighborhood and play on you Little League!
Is this a naive Northerners Fantasy?????:

That's why we picked WG. The distance was a factor as well. Nothing wrong with development but I think there should be a balance with commercial, education, parks, and residential growth. We'd have picked Windermere but we got a bigger home in WG.
