I have been to a few. I would highly recommend Tabla out near Universal. It's very, very good. A lot of reviews say it's the best in town. Do a google maps search on "Orlando Indian", or any other town, and you will find a bunch, with reviews.

The Woodlands on OBT is the best I've had. I use to go to New Punjab until i realized they had roach issues. I haven't returned.

I would second Woodlands on OBT. It's vegetarian south Indian cuisine, and somewhere I miss now that I don't live in Orlando any longer.

The most recent issue of Orlando Weekly has an article on Bombay Cafe in the OBT/Oakridge area and then also has small blurbs from the other restaurants it has recently reviewed of that cuisine. I think it would be worth grabbing considering what you are looking for.
