Default Southchase, Hunter's Creek or Waterford Lakes?

I'm going to be moving to Orlando from Brevard County and I'd like some advice about where I should be looking to live. I work at Cape Canaveral so I need to stay close to 417 / 528. Can any residents of Southchase / Hunter's Creek / Waterford Lakes, give me the pros and cons of their respective neighborhoods?

I'm hoping to spend less then $200K and I'd like an area close to shopping and restaurants, yet safe enough to feel at ease walking through the neighborhood. I'm looking for houses only (no condos or town homes) with a decent yard, big enough to have dogs.

Other then these 3 neighborhoods, are there any other safe neighborhoods I should be looking at?

The best of the three in my opinion is Hunters Creek, but it is pretty similar to Waterford Lakes. There are more remedial areas as well as very nice areas.
The remedial areas of Waterford are north of Curry Ford, but areas like Stoneybrook, Eastwood, and the southern half of Avalon Park are nicer than the areas of north of there. In Hunters Creek, the areas west of John Young are nicer and along Hunters Creek Blvd instead of Town Center. Try to be as far west in this area from John Young as you can be and it will be more serene and have less through traffic. I do not have a lot of concerns about Hunters Creek. I go there a lot and have friends in the neighborhood who all seem pretty happy with the area.

The least nice of the three is South Chase, but there are nice areas of South Chase as well. My biggest concerns with South Chase are not necessarily the neighborhoods but the main thoroughfares through there are S Orange and S OBT and people drive very fast and aggressively through there and OBT has a bad reputation not too far north of there.

I do not live in these areas, but some who respond will be able to give you better first hand experience as well. Happy hunting!

I'd recommend Waterford Lakes or even Avalon Park, given that the county is finally getting around to connecting 528 and Alafaya Trail by the end of next year. Assuming they're telling the truth this time you'd be able to hop right on/off of 528 when heading to work or coming home.

I was thinking that too regarding the convenience for your commute, the 32828 (Waterford/Avalon Park) zip code would be the best of the three.
