Default Where is it better to live Tampa or Orlando?

Do you guys think Tampa or Orlando is better? I'm just wondering because I heard so many of you talk about Orlando like if it was a war zone. I'm also planning to move to FL Mid July.

Orlando is not "like a war zone." There are some bad areas. There are also some really bad areas in Tampa.

It totally depends on you and what you want. If you just have to be near nice beaches, Tampa. Orlando has better shopping, and (I think, anyway) better housing stock and somewhat lower costs of living.

Like Annerk said, both places have their share of crime, so don't let that be the deciding factor.

Cool Ty guys, I guess what I'm going to do is just go and stay for at least two weeks in a hotel while we look for a nice place to rent, and then stay in the apartment or house rental for about 3 to 6 month while we find the right house to buy. Thanks again for your inputs.

ORLANDO! So much fun and so much to do. What's Tampa, just another city and how many times can you go to the beach......

I think both are great. They have different pros and cons. Tampa has the nearby beaches, sports, etc. I think Orlando has better shopping, dining, entertainment, and is for the most part cleaner. I like Orlando more, but I could survive in Tampa as well.

I would suggest, if you haven't done so already, to post this same question in the Tampa forum as well.

On main page of this site you can get crime states for 32714 by putting in the zip. Altamonte is generally pretty safe though. I don't know about the schools.
