In the Western part of Sanford, you will be closer than Heathrow or Lake Mary. Well maybe, the back part of Heathrow won't be too bad. There are many beautiful subdivisions in west Sanford where you can chat with neighbors. It will also be just as close to shopping as Lake Mary would be. It's only 10 minutes northwest of Lake Mary, but it would knock about 15 minutes off your commute. Try Sylvan Lake or Lake Forest. Those are two that come to mind. There are others. It's the same distance to the mall and all the shopping as it is from Lake Mary. You have all the restaurants there, entertainment, movies, and Sam's Club, BJ's, Bed Bath and Beyond, Starbucks,Target, Walmart, Olive Garden, Red Lobster and more, more and more! What is your price range?

Well, will be renting for a bit. That way we can really figure it out without rushing. I figure we'll be looking in the 400-500K range. Wouldn't mind spending less but definitely not more! I do believe the housing market has not quite hit its lows, yet. Also have a dog and would love to have some access to dog parks. Schools not a priority but recognize the resale value of a home in a good school district. Thanks for the info, Annerk

I think on average it would take 35-40 minutes using those directions. 46 is not heavily traveled so I think it will be a fairly easy drive. It seems like a formidable commute but I think that's because in most people's minds, Tavares is still considered the "outskirts" and "undeveloped." In reality I believe the distance is the same as living in Lake Mary and commuting to Lake Buena Vista and people do that all the time.

Thanks, Crane's Rooster. The time alone isn't such a problem if the commute itself isn't a nightmare in terms of traffic. Sounds like you kind of go along without too much headache, right??

The commute should be fairly easy because while everyone is headed into Orlando while you are headed out. Honestly, I think it's very doable and once you get used to it, it will probaly seem easy.

CR, I really do appreciate your input and info. I am reasonably certain that the Lake Mary area is a good fit for us and was starting to get nervous about the commute! We will be visiting very soon and will vet out all the options but at least I can continue to consider Lake Mary, Heathrow, etc! Thanks to you and all others for commenting!
