Default Assorted/random Orlando questions...

So I spent Friday in Orlando again, this time focused on finding a commercial space. I'll go again this week to look for specific apartments, etc but I have some questions I'm hoping someone can help me with...

(1) I think I want to live in Winter Park or Lake Eola area. Around there, the best commercial spots I found so far are on Edgewater Road 32806, Drennen Rd 32810, and Forsyth Rd 32792. Drennen was closest, but a tad questionable-looking (cleanliness of area, and safety-wise). Should I avoid any of these locations for any reason? I have a habit of working from home on some days, but then working until 2am on other days.

(2) Can someone give me some street names in the Dr. Phillips area so I know I'm there. Last time I think I was off elsewhere.

(3) Similarly, any specific street I should check out so I know I'm in Windermere?

(4) Sand Lake / JPY area has nice commercial units. Any good areas to live in around there? IMO Hunter's creek may be a bit too far away from where I see the life is (Lake Eola, etc). Within 5 miles away would be ideal, but a few more miles is fine.

Much thanks,
-Neil.

Dr Philips begins on the west side of I-4--taking Sand Lake Road west takes you right into it. Dr. Philips has all of the restaurant row stuff on Sand Lake and a few scattered shopping areas--but it isn't really a huge area. When you get to Apopka-Vineland Road (Hwy 535) via Sand Lake, Dr. Philips is both North and South on that. It is a bedroom community--so you will not find anything that resembles a "town"--if that's what you are looking for.

Taking Apopka-Vineland south will take you down to Lake Buena Vista and the Downtown Disney area. At that point, you have left Dr. Philips. Nothing says Lake Buena Vista either--you leave the housing area and head into hotels and shopping with a turn into Disney as an option.

Taking Apopka-Vineland north to Conroy-Windermere Road means you will take a left and follow the small 2 lane winding road into the hamlet of Windermere. You will know when you get there. Gated subdivisions all along the way. The quaint little burb of Windermere has sand/dirt streets down all of the old town residential area. The main street thru the little town is paved however.

Ahhh... well that explains that. Looking at a map now, and I was apparently around Kirkman/Vineland/Turkey Lake, which is all of the Univ. Studios surrounding area. I'll add this to my next visit this week. This also seems like a good location if I get an office on Sand Lake/JYP. Thanks.

Well, I guess I need to make a small correction...If you take Sand Lake West to Apopka-Vineland (535), you will know you have reached Dr. Philips because there is a big granite marker in the middle of the Blvd on Sand Lake that says, Dr.Philips. It looks like a big tombstone. I've always tried to figure that one out. Seems so morbid for an upper income area.

Doctor Phillips, Florida - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

God forbid they try to achieve any sense of "culture" in a so called nicer area. Orlando will never have culture or history if they try to keep it "clean" LOLOL!!
