Default Companies Hiring in the Orlando area

Thought I'd start a thread where we can list companies hiring in the area when we hear about jobs.

For those thinking about moving to the area, many of the local employers will require you to be a local resident and apply in person.

Mack Concrete in Astatula has a "Help Wanted" sign out. My guess is either laborers, heavy equipment mechanics, or cement truck drivers, it didn't say what. Apply in person only, no phone calls.

Disney has started to take future interest applications for counter service, housekeeping, and maintenance, but aren't actually hiring yet.

I work for in hospitality when I'm not teaching statistics. Many of the people I work with at the hotel work in banquest as servers and bartenders and work on-call for a handful of different places. Very often hotels will not advertise these positions but they pay quite well if you get on at the right place. I work for Hilton and can tell you they have a good reputation and people in food service often make $20-$30/hr including the gratuities. At The Peabody hotel banquet servers often make close to $40-$50/hr. Off the top of my head I know there's a HIlton at the convention center that's slated to be finished before the end of the year (maybe late fall). It looks upscale and I'm sure they pay well at that location.

Interesting that you mentioned Disney. People in food service there make an outrageous amount of money for doing very little. But, from what I've been told you have to start off at the counter service and work 6mos-1 yr?? before advancing.

They are union jobs with collective bargaining pay and range from $7.85 to $12.62/hour. You need to be there for a really, really long time to max out. Generally you start as a host/ess or cashier, and advancement is generally based on seniority. The best way to advance is to work at one of the restaurants that doesn't do a lot of business (and as a result ahs high turnover) and stick it out. Of course you also run the risk of that place closing and you ahve to start near the bottom wherever you can find a new job--and Disney pretty much tells you to go get a job at another restaurant, doesn't always do an automatic transfer.

Also many jobs start as temporary or seasonal, and you've just got to bide your time to get f/t perm.

I'll be hiring soon, once I finally move to Orlando (hopefully in July). I'll need...

(a) At least one electronics assembler (SMT soldering), part-time contract at first.

(b) One light assembler/packager (screwdriver, glue, and packaging/boxing), part-time/contract at first.

(c) One mill+lathe machinist w/CNC knowledge, part-time contract.

I'm on the hunt for some PnP machinery, so I'll be bringing some of the other assembly in-house in the near future. This will probably be an advancement for (a) above.

I believe Center Hill Building Products in Clermont is taking applications for part time workers. My dad is the GM there and I think he needs warehouse work. It definitely wouldn't be alot of hours, probably less than 10 a week, but I guess a little money is better than none.

A few more:

Fields Equipment (the John Deere place on 27) in Clermont/Minneola has a sign out for an equipment mechanic

Coach Crafters in Tavares is looking for a vehicle mechanic

Florida Concrete Pipe in Astatula has a sign out that says "Help Wanted" there was more but I couldn't read it, the letters were small and there was someone right behond me so I couldn't slow down.

The brand new McDonald's they are building on 27 northbound just north of Minneola Town Hall has a "Now Hiring" sign.
