Nirvana-guy, Just wondering what the above post has ANYTHING to do with Altamonte springs? or the posters question?
In any event, if you want unbiased demographic and crime statistics check out Orlando Real Estate - EXIT Real Estate Professionals Or call the local PD you can ask for their crime statistics for the past year in any particular area. |

I have to agree with NG on the appartment along Wymore. I can't say that they aren't safe - haven't heard of a lot of crime over there, but they are old and pretty dumpy. I note that there are some very nice subdivisions right near there.
The problem is they are right on I-4, and unless you rezone that whole strip commercial, there's not much else you can do with that land other than lower income appartments. No one is going to rezone high density residential to commercial office - you'd loose money. And, the residents around there would probably rather live with the dumpy appartments rather than have a cheap strip mall and fast food joints all along there. |

Altamonte is a decent place There are some other good choices in all directions of it. Maitland, Longwood, winter Springs, Winter Park. I would look at those as well depending on where you work. There are really nice homes in all of them, you just have to know where to look. Good Luck. I think you will like any of them.

Alt springs is a great city to live in, I lived on Wymore Rd. for 6 years, I personally think this is a nice road to live on, but don't care for the apartments itself. The location is very convenient because your right next to I-4, and there are alot of shopping centers. You can expect heavy traffic on 436 & I-4. Alot of the schools here are grade A schools. As far as crimes burglary and theft is very high, murders none, my vehicle was stolen once along with many other people vehicles being stolen or broken into along this road. The city is crowed, there are no new homes being built so a lot of the homes here are old, small, and pricey. But i like it here, and don't plan on moving anytime soon.

Altamonte has an increasing crime rate. Lots of theft. Not the most desireable place to live. It's near the I-4, so criminals love it.

Altamonte Springs is a safe area. Yes, there is crime but not near the volume of almost any neighborhood in the Orlando area. ASPD and the city of Altamonte are tops!

atlamonte springs is not pine hils, but then again its not a good area. There is projects and low income ghetto apartments all over 436 on the cross streets. Alt Mall has lots of cars stolen from there. I-4 is there therefore easy access to deltona.

Having grown up in Altamonte I find this topic somewhat humorous. When I was growing up there my biggest concerns were being chased by the neighbors dog as opposed to being mugged. Yes cars get stolen and broken into at the mall but it's a MALL! That happens at just about every mall, especially during the holiday shopping season. I will admit that based on what I see on the news it seems to have gotten worse since I lived there. Although, there was robbery at the convenient store near my old neighborhood, but the robber actually stayed and helped the cashier because she was having an asthma attack. Take that for what it's worth. Also, my opinions really only relate to West Altamonte. I don't much about he Eastmonte area. Yes there are some shady complexes along Wymore but overall I felt Altamonte was safe, and as a teenager, it was downright boring at times growing up there. JMHO.
