How to avoid the long commute from Poinciana?
My husband and I are interested in a couple of houses in Poinciana & Kissimmee. These are great deals because the houses are in great prices, have land and they are young units. The problem though is that on Mapquest it says that Poinciana is about an hour away from Orlando. Is this correct or is there a way to cut through that time?
Thanks for your help!

That's correct, and from the south end of Poinciana it could be longer. One of the biggest disadvantages of Poinciana is that there's only one way in and out.
FYI, if you ahve kids, RUN AWAY. Osceola schools are the worst in the area, I recently looked and well over half are "D" and "F" rated!

Yep, and if your kids don't speak Spanish, the chances they are bullied skyrockets. That statement comes from numerous teachers and a couple parents I know who have taught & lived in the Poinciana/Kissimmee area, and it's just a fact with regard to the middle/high school environment. I hear elementary isn't as bad.. but it's unfortunate that it's come to this.

Most of the elementary and Middle Schools are A's and B's, however, the High Schools are not so great.
There is a "better" way of getting on I-4 from Poinciana if you live in the southern part into the Polk County side. You can get on 27 via Cypress and take it up to get onto I-4.
A family member of mine lives in the Polk side an she enjoys it and it only takes her 40 minutes to work.
Poinciana is definitely somewhere that you have to visit and research before deciding on.
Good luck
