If you consider being surrounded by a zillion cookie-cutter, low-middle class houses living then enjoy. You can keep Clermont. I made 120 thousand tax free dollars on my Clermont house by dumping it at the right time while a dumbass like you rode the housing bubble to it's peak and then slid right back down the other side. Hey maybe you even bought at the peak of the bubble and are now trying to justify your poorly thought out purchase (???) Were you the sucker that bought my crap shack house??? Anyone doubting my claim that Clermont is wall to wall subdivisions can simply go to Google Earth and take a look at the place from a satellite view. At least Clemont has nice bike trails...I'll give you that. Enjoy the sprawl.

Actually I bought before the peak and my custom built home is still worth about 20% more than I paid for it in early 2003 based on recent sales comps directly in my neighborhood, but thanks for your concern. And the majority of Clermont is far from low middle class. There are many homes worth half a million or more--even in TODAY's market. The one across the street from me just sold for $730K and it wasn't a short sale.
Again, you keep dancing around trying to justify your LIE. Tell me which sub has over 1000 homes. You keep dancing because you can't, because there is only one, Kings Ridge.
Keep your east podunk north Georgia way of life. You obviously didn't like suburban living and wanted to live in the middle of nowhere, that's fine. But stop LYING about Clermont because you are bitter because you weren't wise enough to choose where you wanted to live more carefully.

I was thinking the same thing, annerk. Clermont living is third world conditions? LOL!!! Someone has obviously never lived in third world conditions. Id That's third world conditions, then the third world has it better then most of America!! HAHA. I am planning on moving to Clermont as well. It is beautiful, has plenty of wide open spaces, and beautiful rolling hills. Quality of houses? I think the saying "They don't build 'em like they used to" comes into play, but that can be said just about anywhere. I don't think it has anything to do with the "illegal" mexicans, since if anything, they work harder then most people. I'm looking to move from Kissimmee, which is turning into a "Gangsta's Paradise". My wife really loves Clermont as well. Great little community.

You guys make me laugh. Kissimmee is undoubtedly a "gangster's paradise". But you move a mere 20 miles away and expect it to be much better? If Kissimme is Gangster now how long do you think it will take it to spread to Clermont? a year? Two years? 5? The abundance of low dollar housing is going to attract the exact element you are trying to get away from. If you want escape that crap you have to move to a different REGION of the country...not 2 towns away. You've got to be a little bolder. The population of Florida is expected to increase dramatically in the coming decades. And it's not going to be filling up with America's best and brightest. "Miami" has been spreading north for decades. By 2020...2030...2040 Central Fl. is going to be a cesspool. I think it already is but in a few decades even Annerk won't be able to deny it!

LOL. Who says housing developments are bad or unwanted? Well, you have, but that's just one person's opinion. The fact that YOU don't like it means nothing. Just because YOU say it is so means nothing. The fact that you apparently moved out means.... well, nothing. Again, that's just ONE person's opinion. Some people like living in a housing development, and more then that, some people like living in housing developments in Clermont. There's something for everyone there. if you don't like the sprawl, there are TONS of places in Clermont where you can move to. If you are a city dweller, there are plenty of places that will appeal to you. Gangster's paradise? LOL. I think you mean Gangsta's paradise. There haven't been gangsters in America since the prohibition, which makes me wonder if you know what you are referring to. If you are referring to Gangstas, thug kids who think they are tough, yeah, welcome to Kissimmee. However, yes, twenty miles can be a world away for these kids. Sprawl doesn't necessarily mean that they will infest the entire area. When has that ever happened? Or can you tell that by looking at Google earth as well? Where are you now, North Georgia? I guarantee you there are Gangstas and thugs living there as well. Just because you don't see them doesn't mean they are there. Besides, EVERY city has it's good places and it's bad places, including where you live, and rarely if ever does it infest the whole city. Growing up in NYC, I know this from experience.
LOL. "Gangster's paradise." Watch out for them Tommy guns!!

We are building a new home in Clermont soon. We currently live in the Avalon Park area on the East side and I admit I'm going to miss our Waterford lakes towncenter. I'm glad to see some new things have developed in Clermont recently though! I saw someone mention something about a Montverde Plaza. What is that?
Also, Can anybody tell me if there are any dog parks nearby and what sort of things do people do for recreation on weekends?

Clermont is just fine. There's good and bad everywhere. Go check it out. Weigh the options. I think you'll like it. Was just there today visiting friends. It's beautiful.

Not as many gangsta's in Northern GA, but plenty of cowards that like to wear their white bedsheets over their heads. Sounds like a certain Butthead will fit right in.

Sorry ann, but I think the KKK exists more in your imagination and in the imagination of Hollywood scriptwriters than in real life. In all my years in Fl. and Ga. I've never heard a thing about them nor have I seen them (except in movies). By the way Ann, what part of north Ga. did you live in?

Below are some of the huge developments that were approved and ready to go in recent years. The only reason they are not built out at this time is the economy. The minute things pick back up, you will see these developments resume construction, with full build out planned for a few years after that.
Reserve at Minneola is a 657-home development approved in mid-2004. But as of summer 2009, that development has only about 60 completed homes that are tapped into the new wastewater facility.
Sugarloaf Mountain development was approved and planned for 2,200 homes. (anyone who has been to the top of Sugarloaf "mountain" knows what a gem that area is for Clermont. Can you picture 2,000+ homes there instead?)
Massive developments like this were the reason that Minneola built that huge $17 million wastewater treatment plant (which is now only using 10% of its capacity and costing the city $1.24 million per year in construction loan payments.)

Minneola isn't in Clermont, and neither is Sugarloaf Mountain. Minneola is in uh, Minneola. Sugarloaf Mountain is in unincorporated Lake County with a Minneola zip code.
Not sure why you are trying to drag Clermont into something that has zilch to do with it.
