Everything will be more in the NYC area, but I do know that everything, including real estate is cheaper in upstate NY (except the taxes).
So if you want to compare Binghampton NY to Miami FL, then FL will be more expensive, . . . but in NYC or Long Island MOST goods will cost more than in Orlando.
I hear that... I am currently looking in upstate (well what city people consider upstate, orange county, ny) and am very open to all dealerships...I am thinking though that most new cars in the 20-30k range are now going to be drastically cheaper enough in florida to warrant waiting and struggling without a car for a few months or flying down for a weekend

If you are looking at new cars, I think you're wrong.

If you are looking at used, six of one, half a dozen of another. At least with many Florida cars they never saw snow or road salt.

And I think you are wrong. As I said, my mom and I just bought the same car (different colors but neither was an added expense) from dealers, one in upstate NY and the other in Orlando and they were for all practical purposes the same price.

I don't know why you think that cars would be that much cheaper here.

I just realized a typo, that should have been
"I am thinking though that most new cars in the 20-30k range are NOT going to be drastically cheaper enough in florida to warrant waiting and struggling without a car for a few months or flying down for a weekend"

There we go, now the confusion is gone

I moved to Binghamton, NY from Tampa, FL and it is also less expensive. You're correct in pointing out that comparisons should be made from an area in one state to an area in another state and not just state to state.
